Tell me why ... Car is just up the road from me.
Could be a factory regrind on the stamp pad. I would want an expert with those cars to verify that.

Broaching looks like it's been tampered with. It's been scratched upon from left to right, at minimum. I'm not a professed expert but I've also been around this for over 35 years.
IMO, I'd have an NRCS Bible thumper inspect it before purchasing. Chuck Berge would be the guy for that.

zr1 was for years 1970-1972 small block lt1 cars. It was a overall car package that included engine, suspension and luxury delete items so the car would be ready to go for club racing. the zr2 was only 1971 and that was the big block ls6 engine with all the heavy duty suspension and brake packages. Those are very rare.

The ZL1 would have been the "427" C2 L88 cars all aluminum engine. The ZR2 are 454.

The ZR2 was a 454. The Bigblock was the original LS6. While it is known there were the 2 cars built recently there is a 3rd car that has surfaced and there is solid documentation for the car.

there were approximately 12 zr1 corvettes built with the ls6 big block motor. the first ls6 was a big block not the ls6 found in the c5. the ls6 first appeared in the 1970 chevelle. The chevelle was the most powerful chevy built in 1970 because the compression ratios were still 11:1. The 1971 ls6 came with the zl1 aluminum heads and it dropped the copression to 9:1 for the new low lead fuels. It was still an awesome preformer even with lower compression. I have seen at least 6 of those zr1 in the many shows I have been too. One of the most valuable used to belong to a guy name Jack Murray and it was brands hatch green convertible with additional hardtop and very low original miles. Too bad they never made a big block lt5 or lt6 to give it a proper name.

In all the years I've been into Corvettes, all that I've read in well over 30 years, this is the first I've ever heard of a C3 ZR1 that came with a Bigblock. I've always read the the first ZR1s were Smallblock LT-1 cars with heavy duty Bigblock components and the ZR2 was the same car with a Bigblock.

that is why they are so rare. It is said that it was one of zora's favorite cars to drive. The handling of the zr2 package with the added bonus of that brutish big block that you can gas up at any station was fantastic. ls6 big blocks only came out in 1971 for the corvette. It is one of my favorite cars. If I had a choice of any corvette it would probably be a two top convertible zr2 corvette. It flies under the radar but is a fantastic car and way under valued. It should not be as much as a zl1 but I should be at least a few hundred thousand bucks.

Last time one of the ZR2, LS6 cars what for sale, I think it was about $300,000 or so bid up to and it did not sell. It was a 12 car run.
I do own a 71 LS6 have had it from 1992. Fun car in straight line. has the M22 and 4:11.
But you need to feed it gas.......7-8 MPG. Has 35,200 miles on it.

You own a great car. ls6 big block really runs good and the the last of the mohicans. m22 and 4:11 must be shifting all the time. I bet it breaks the tires loose so easily. I had a 1971 ls5 built to a 468 cu automatic car with 3:55 gears. It was no ls6 but it did move nicely.

I have 3 C3's. A 68 and 2 1970's. One of my 70's is a LT1 vert. I notice on all my tank stickers from these cars the hand written number on itank stickeri is one or two digits from the last 3 didgits of the vin number. My 1967 coupe also is one digit off from the hand written number on tank sticker. The one on ebay is way off,not sure if means anything.

Shifting is not bad with the 4:11.......normal driving, I treat it like a 2-speed,
I shift one to four ..........stop light......one to four!
If I run it hard than I use all 4 but yes they go by fast, and of course the gear wine. lots of people think it has a blower on it with the wine.

nice of course 1 to 4. with all that torque and 4:11 gears that is no problem. Your car sounds like a great ride.

Way more room in a C2 vs. a C3.
