Hi all;

Just wondering where I could find a rebuilt Bose stereo for my 90 Z? I see Dr. Dons but just wondering if there are other options out there?

Thanks.

You can try these guys, I just had them fix my CDM and add an I-pod plug. Very happy with the results.

Try carstereohelp.com. That is where I am sending in my 90 radio for repair. Dr. Don quoted me $450, the other place $190.

Who is Marc with? Im in a dilemma, Dr Don is 550 for a rebuilt radio then another what, 250-300 for rebuilt CDM? Where as the car stereo is i think around 190 each for both units rebuilt but i have to send it in there first. Dr Don seemed to have sold me over the phone, but in the end, the almighty $$ wins unless its worth it for some reason to spend the extra scrilla. What do you guys think?

Have you contacted mycaraudio.ca in Toronto ? They repair Bose car audio equipment. Might save crossborder shipping or shipping entirely?

Found a place in Whitby a bit closer to me, Custone Electronics ltd, they seem to be one of only a few radio repair shops in the province so brought the Bose radio and CDM to them. We shall see the results..

I have used Custone a few times in the past when I lived in Whitby and had no issues. I believe they do all the GM radio warranty work in the the surrounding area.:cheers:

Hey all;

Question. So my 90 Bose head is fried. The CDM is fine. Now, Custone has got a hold of a '94 Bose radio head from a Vette but its black instead of gray. They have assured me the radio will work in my '90. Just not sure if the faceplate, buttons, and nobs on my 90 will transfer over to the 94 head.

What do you guys think before i decide?

Thanks.

I would consider price first. It won't match the interior, but should work.

Check out that Car stereo help place, and Dr Dons.

So the radio for the 94 is the same as the 90, and the faceplate from both come off and can be swapped. So says the radio repair guy and Dr Don. I'd go with Dr Don, but a refinished radio is 550, plus 65 shipping in US $, which is converted to CDN is around $750, then i have to pay duty on it which brings it to about $850.

I can get the 94 converted with the 90 faceplate for $400. Seems the best way to go..

Yes you can swap the faces as well as the radio itself
