Good Morning Gentlemen --
I am a little confused still about ZR1 Seats.
The Sport Seats -- between 1990-1993 Seats and 1994-1995 .... which Seat is more comfortable on long trips? Which Seat has more cushion? The reason I ask is I am 5' 9', about 163 lbs but have a right hip socket problem/pain from an accident back in the day so I want to purchase a ZR1 that offers the most comfortable Seats.
My current 1993 C4 base seats feel pretty good. However, I've never sat in a ZR1 and the 1990-93 Sport Seats look very different to the 1994-95 Sport Seats.
Any help/advice appreciated - Thanks! :)

I'm just 6' and at 235#. The 90/91 sport seats were miserable (to me) compared to the base 95 seats (previous Vette). I bought a set of 95 base seats, and have been very happy - comfort wise, ever since: no regrets!! (Never missed the "gee wiz" features of the sport seats.)
The late model Zs (94-95 in particular) are more like the base seats; i.e., more room for bigger butts and women's wider hips. I don't know that seats would be the determining factor, far as shopping for a Z goes, but certainly something to keep in mind.

In the same weight zip code as Paul and find my 94 sport seats very confortable even after long stints behind the wheel.

i'm like 5'8 and 200lbs depending on when I went to take a dump. The seats in my 90 don't bother me at all, even with the lumbar support not working and having a bad back

The 90 and 91 seats are different.
The 90 seats are without a doubt the worst seat every made by any manufacturer.
The 91-93 Seats are pretty confortable for about 300 miles or a tank of gas.
The 94-95 Standard seats are the most comfortable as they have smaller side bolsters that the 94-95 sport seats.
The 94-95 sport seats will put you about an inch closer to the roof panel as the seat cushion is higher.

6'1 235lb. 62 years old. Shoulders much wider than butt. 90 sport seats fit like a glove and still have room to adjust them out wider. In my opinion early sport seats, [narrower] are one of the things that look better than the new style, wider ZR-1 seats.

I just recently re-did the sport seats in my 92. The center section is done in Alcantara leather. Grippy. Along w some pairs of jeans, I use my sport seats as a gauge of when to lose weight. At 6'2"/205, the seats fit comfortably. When I did the rebuild, I also added a couple of extra seat cushion support straps to the bottom, giving a firmer seat. I like a German type of seating.
BTW, I fractured my hip last year in a road bike incident. The firmer seats actually are more comfortable than the seats in my RX-330 for that.

I find the seats in my 95 to be very comfortable. Just drove over 900 miles to and from Bowling Green and never felt uncomfortable or fatigued. The 93 seats were a bit tighter but not too bad. Overall, given my size (about like Paul W) I would chose the 95s.--Bob

I prefer the early seats as they fit me best, but I'm not a big guy 5-9 170.

My wife and I both hated the 90 Sport seats. So I got a set of 95 Sport seats and those are MUCH better. Don't have them wired for the bladders to work (Have all the stuff just not the time) and even without them they are better. 6'1" 210...

Just finished 4600 miles in my 1990 z, WA to Bowling Green, then Chicago, then back home. Extremely comfortable, more so than my late model car or truck. Am 6 foot, 215 #. Stock sport seats.

Your mileage may vary...BUT I concur with Robert on the 90s - from a comfort perspective. "TOO Danged NARRAH!!" (as they say in the south).:-D For ONE, I found myself having to climb up and over the bolster to get in. Once in, the bolster pressed against my outer (left) thigh, and after a couple hours of cutting off circulation in my leg, the pain got to be intense! Same was for Ami (wider hips).
I've sat in a 96 GS w/ the sport seats, and they felt really nice; kinda like my base 95s do. For my butt, the 90 sport seats were terrible, mostly b/c of the bolsters issue. The late mo sport seats were like my 95 base seats: very comfy!
I recon the only way for the OP to know is to try sitting in several seats and see what fit 'im. To the OP, from 90 to 94-95 the seat (bottoms) generally got wider (flatter for fatter buttz;)). If ya got "narrah" hips and/or a tiny lady in the jump seat, early sport seats might be fine. Otherwise late model are going to have more room. Best advise is not to worry about the seats: change 'em later if ya want, but instead consentrate on the car first! (cuz it ain't like you have a bunch of the to chose from anyway!!)

Im running 96 Seats. Wider is better unless you like bolster button AZZ imprints. The C4 was built based on a 5'9 inch 175 pound standard Male in the late 70's for its 84 model run. To those that still meet the 70s and 80s standard more power to you.
Paired with full sheepskins and back heat on demand coming soon these are some damn great cruising seats. The early seats unless your a shorter thinner guy just suck IMHO. The larger seats are better for us in the 6ft 2 crowd

As a born 'n bred southerner, I say hogwash. My 90 seats are without a doubt the best seats I've ever had in a sports car, fit me like a glove and completely comfortable for hundreds of miles at a shot. I love them, one of my favorite features of the C4...shame they changed them later. I'm 6'1" and 200lbs, and I keep the side bolsters set pretty narrow so the seat has a "fit" for me.
FWIW I've also had a couple early 928s and those seats are phenomenally comfortable too but not as supportive, so the Corvette wins.

Not wanting to argue - but I'm 6'1" 210 and the 90 seats friggin killed me. The side bolsters even at their widest dug into the side of my legs and cut the circulation off after an hour or so. Wife hated em worse then I did, and she's not big by any means. We must be built different or something...

The seat bolsters don't move, which is probably something they should have done. I like the idea of feeling "nestled" in the seat, not sitting on it. Having said that, I know that for more expansive derrières, mine included, you could be sitting on the bolsters and not the seats.

Yeah the switches in the bolsters were the worst on me. Right where they were is where I had dents in my legs and the circulation cut off. Had they put them in the console like the later ones and had just padding in those bolsters, or had cut them down some - then I probably wouldn't have minded the 90 seats.
I must have a narrow ***. :D When I sit in the car, I'm IN the seat and those side switches don't bother me a bit - plenty of padding between my thigh and the switch bezel. The only time it's a little annoying is if I'm wearing cargo shorts with big side pockets, and then it's just a little adjustment. Like I said I love the 90 seats, second-best feature of the car (after the engine!).
FWIW you guys would HATE the 308 seats. Narrower and less padding than the Corvette, less support and even more reclined seating position.
