I need to replace or rebuild the amps in my 90. Is it best to just buy new ones or just have them rebuilt? Or is there another option? I found a place online who will rebuild them with a lifetime warranty for $80 each so may just send them all in. Always looking for a cheaper solution though.

Search a little more about replacing them with used amplifiers from Nissan maximas. They are almost exactly the same and the plug and play. I can buy them in junk yards all day long for $4-$8 each. Many of us have stock piled since C4's tend to multiply if you have the space.

Search this forum of CF for nissan amplifiers for corvette or Dynomite's sticky here in his encyclopedia corvettia (Solutions) that has more info than you could ever find in one place.
to directly answer your question, 95-99 maximas or i30 infiniti clones with the bose radio (some don't have bose). there are a couple of different part numbers- some from other vehicles that will work, some that don't, but for sure the 95-99 maximas do.

Cool thanks! I guess you run the risk of buying used ones that are bad too.

I haven't found a bad one yet. The nissan ones are newer for one, but also i think they solved the issue with the capacitors going bad and drying out by the late 90's. I had repaired a few before, but it takes too long compared to getting the bucket loads of cheap junkyard ones- it's like a cornucopia of audio parts since everybody is throwing away those 90 maximas and they are just everywhere right now.

Can you use the 975s in front and rear or do the rears need the 075s?

There are 975 fronts and 975 rears.
There are 075 fronts and 075 rears.
Do not mix front and rears.

Not enough information has been shared to know if the number has anything to do with the front/rear designation, but both kinds work, just make sure to put it in back if it is marked 'rear' and so forth. I don't even remember what the ones I pulled out a few weeks ago were marked as, but the rear ones are tuned for more bass so don't mix them up.
The rear amp's started giving me some pops on start up and needed replacement. Instead of getting them repaired I bought a set of 100w amps out of a Cadillac. Now there is bass and some good sound in this 94 Bose system.

Thanks all, is Dr. Don the only place to get the pig tail adapters for the 1990?
Edit, I emailed Dr. Dons if he had the adapters and got this response:
Nissan Amplifiers are not designed for the Corvette Speakers.
The Frequency Output for these amplifiers is designed to drive a specific speaker.
The Nissan Amplifiers do not deliver as quality of an output either.(Wattage/Freq)
So anyone else sell the adapters for the 90?

From which year and model Cadillac did you get your amps? Mine need replacing and I was going to replace the whole system but apparently I won't have to with these.

Is it possible to install a standard speaker in place of the amped ones?

You can do that, but you have to also change the head unit and bypass the CDM tuner. There are plug-and-play wire harnessed for aftermarket radios and even some packages with a head unit you can mount too. The Bose speakers are a proprietary 1 ohm impedance. It is all or nothing with these radios. I found that fixing the amps was the easiest solution since I'm not an audiophile and don't need any slick features in a car I don't drive very often.

100 watt amps from a Bose system in a Cadillac. They are not that specific. Plugs right in. You have to modify 2 of the mounting screws. Very easy and well worth it. You will like the sound for cheap.
There is a set on Ebay right now @ 60. shipped for the pair.
I'm looking for a set of 75 watt amps to finish up the front speakers.

I'm using the stock rear speakers now. They are fine.
Oh , and Thanks' go's out to LocoBob for the suggestion !

Where can I source some pig tails to put new amps in besides Dr. Don's? He is sold out and rather not pay $30 each from the vendors.

Mine (91') are all crapped out too over the years. The Caddy's sound like a good idea, upgrade on the cheap.
Is there a certain year Caddy that you got them from? What should I ask for? Is this a boneyard acquisition or did you buy them new?
With my headers, no cats, and old 3" B&B's, I don't suppose I need to be too picky :))
Here you go 29.95 each free shipping.
