Hi,

I am selling my 1992 red/red ZR1, which I've had for 1 year. I'm the third owner. Previous owner was 2nd owner (old gentleman) had the vehicle for 21 years.

61,900 miles.

I am going to put it on craigslist and/or eBay later in the week, but posting it here first.

Vehicle is stock, with minor mods: BB exhaust (I think that's what it is - it was on the vehicle when I bought it), and I've added a Marc Haibeck chip custom programmed for permanent secondaries open (they're mechanically wired open, so reversible if needs be).

Also, last summer, 16 new FIC fuel injectors (old ones beginning to show deterioration, 1 out of the 16 completely shot).

And last fall, new RAM dual-disc clutch and hydraulic slave, replacing old slave cylinder, ball and fork; old slave cylinder was fully operational at time of removal and is kept for reversal if needs be. Also lightweight flywheel added at same time. Transmission filled with BMW M-Oil 10W60.

All fluids clean and topped up.

Rear Sumitomo tires good, not particularly grippy, but still fair amount of meat left. New owner will want to replace the front Goodyear tires - they're old.

Car drives well, bit rattly, especially with roof off, and minor tick from the non-OEM clutch+flywheel.

Two tops - transparent acrylic and red top both with the car, both in good condition.

Points to Note:

I know I'm trying to sell a car, but I believe in honesty, warts and all. So here are the things to note:

There is a presumably slight vacuum leak somewhere, vacuum will stay running (put engine ignition on, don't start engine, you can hear it run and run). Does not seem to affect anything.
Bose Radio - something is wrong. Sound is clear enough, but lacking bass. I've had amps go before, which sounded muffly/static, but these sound clear, just very little bass. Radio works, antenna extends and retracts, not tried CD player so can't vouch either way for that.
Plenum - there is a small 2" scuff in the center valley of it, where the powder coating has been rubbed off.
Service Ride Control - there is a code 14 (Right Front time out), which was intermittent. I replaced the small gear (on top of shock) as the prior one was crunched, and no the code 14 is permanent. Likely new actuator needed. No other codes on that.
Brake: ABS and ASR both work fine, and ASR will kick-in easily enough if you want to test it. However, there is an *intermittent* "BRAKE" light which disables the ABS and ASR (red lights in console). The code thrown is low brake fluid, which I've topped up right to the brim, and it is currently not throwing this code. But it has happened, so for information.
Interior: not brilliant. It needs a good deep clean (some dirt in the small buttons for the seat bolster pumps), and the leather on the driver's seat is scuffed and worn on the left support arm, and less worn but still a little scuffed on the passenger side. Electric seats move all ways, both sides, but air pump and bladder bolsters inoperative on both seats. Sunscreen visors a little dog-eared. Scuffing on radio facia panel (prior owner had installed a Sirius XM receiver which he'd stuck on... it was stuck fast).
Exterior: bright red is good, from a distance car looks excellent. Up close, there are various chips (all small) with some clustered under passenger underbelly, a few behind rear wheel, and some other small scuffs. There is a "spider" crack on the front-right nose which is visible up close. Also, there was a series of scratches (not deep, looked like scuffed against branches or something) on rear quarter panel and few inches overlapping the passenger door. I've done an initial job to resolve it, planned to do more (more wet sand and re-spray) this summer.

I hope that summarize the vehicle as honestly as possible. If anyone's interested, I am open to ALL OFFERS.

Are you joking? 10k for a Clean 92?

BigIke, I don't know - that's what I'm hoping for minimum. As we all do, we over inspect these cars, and there are the listed minor issues with it - actuator $200, radio or amps, $300, interior could spend a bit, eventually a respray, don't know... I sorta figure $13-15K for a better condition, as these cars are babied...

But maybe the small things to be expected in a 23 years old... I just saw a nice 1990 with 83K go for $10,100 on eBay, so whatever the market is doing...

As I wrote, I'm really into any serious offer and will leave it on here until mid-week...

OK $9,995 upwards

You are killing me with that price!!!!

You can part the car out and get more for it.

I think you should ask for more....ijs....

I would like to get $16K for mine so I can upgrade to a stroked LT-5.

I am going to put this onto craigslist and eBay on Wednesday or Thursday this week.

Not sure about parting it out - the car runs nicely, engine strong, new clutch and injectors.

As said, open to all reasonable offers, and $9,995 upwards would be considered reasonable.

I basically always follow pricing on these first generation Zs...Which one sold for 10,100?..Can you forward the link if it's available?

On the surface this car looks like a really good deal....I agree with the other members that you could get more....New injectors, new clutch, those are pretty pricey repairs...

Even though I have no plans on selling my Z,I see a lot of varying prices for these cars....Some same condition cars side by side can vary upwards of 50% so it's hard to judge how the value of these cars will stay over the next five or six years...Who knows...

OK $9,995 upwards

That headlight noise is and easy and cheap fix you just need to replace the plastic gear in the headlight motor. New tires should run about 800 bucks maybe cheaper depending on the brand. Respray the nose is about 400. clean up the int free if you want to put in the work then you can ask top dollar for a great car. if your ever in my area I can help you fix the headlight noise.

Thanks for the link....Yes, I remember that car..I just did not put that in my watch list..
Everything looks good in photos..I guess you have to be up close to see how good a car is..

To settle for around ten thousand for a Z That looks like it's in decent shape to me is a fantastic deal.....

Before I bought my Z last November I was following pricing on the first generation Vipers...I just could not find one that was a " great deal".....I did this for about two years..If anything they went up in price and I was not willing to part with my 73 to make up the difference in price......

Hence, I purchased the ZR 1....It's nice having the different generation Corvettes I have to say....

I would agree with others here that $10K is unreasonably low. I paid $10K for mine and it needed injectors, coils, rear shocks and bodywork. I have about $12 into mine thus far, with another $4,500 for the paint job it's getting now (followed by a new stereo, ...).

Yours should sell PDQ. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you sell it today via word of mouth here.
