On this week's "Legendary Motorcars", the host Peter Klutt, a Toronto collector car restorer/dealer, had a segment on cars that, in his opinion you could buy today for a reasonable price, drive for 4-5 years, and re-sell for the same money, or for a profit.
Standing in front of a red 95' ZR-1 he touted the Z, and the 96' Grand Sport, as good high performance cars that can be purchased for "less than $30K", driven hard for a few years and not worry about them falling apart, or losing much of their value. Klutt also mentioned the "cult following" of the C4 ZR-1 (I guess that's us),.
In fact, he strongly praised the C4 as a car that will stand up to a lot of racing punishment without costing an arm or a leg to fix. "Just slap another set of brake pads on and you're good to go".
It was good to see a guy that has a good reputation in the collector car world really give the old Z a great review. A much better review than the Buick GNX got on the same show from his female co-host, who really whined about the black turbo's faults. "The interior, with too much carpet everywhere, smelled like someone's old living room"......???
RESPECT
