I will be getting home from our Roadtrip on Thursday evening and the weather looks OK for a WMD on Sunday, 19 Apr 2015. Hopefully I will have the PurpleZ cleaned up by then.
We will be installing 4.10:1 gears and a clutch pilot bearing on Charlie's ZR-1.
If you have anything else you want to do to your Z, please let me know.
Start time is 8:30AM but come when you can and stay as long as you like. Come and hang out with us.
Location: In the garage behind my house at 195 W Main St, Westminster, MD
If you need directions of have questions, contact me at 443-244-1347 of jim@gizmosart.com

Sorry Jim, I have to work, power grid upgrades on base are forcing us to shut all our servers down this weekend.

That will draw a crowd! I will have to break out the fancy table cloths for this event.

I'll definitely be there, and should be able to stay all day. Excited to see everyone (and the new car). I'll see if there is anything on my list that can get taken care of, as well.
Charlie, maybe we can finally catch up and I can pay you for those filters?

Well, the WMD was a complete success. We accomplished all the planned work. However, a couple of setbacks made it take longer than it should have.
Here is the assembled group:
Left to right: Dempsey, Glenn, Phil, Kevin, Ed, Yun, Matt, Nelson, Charlie, Jim. Darrin, Bob and Scott

Here we are at work on Charlie's ZR-1. The plan was to install a new differential with a 4.10:1 gear set, replace the clutch pilot bearing, and replace the half shaft U-joints.

The delay occurred when we had difficulty removing the pilot bearing. We used a blind hole bearing puller, (as I have done many times in the past), but the flanges of the tool snagged on the oil galley plug in the back of the crank shaft, but we did not know that. After a lot of work, we built an extractor to replace the slide hammer and it finally came out and we discovered the plug had come out with the bearing.
I did not have any plugs on hand, so there was a three-hour delay while Phil drove home to get a plug and the install tool he made.
On Bob's 1993 Ruby we replaced the serpentine belt. On Yun's 1994 Black ZR-1 he installed a 63mm throttle body and air horn. On Phil's 1994 Red ZR-1 Yun did some touch up of rock chips.
Break time, enjoying the camaraderie and sunshine:

Glenn's new C-7 Z06, and my 1995 Purple ZR-1. Down the alley there is Matt's 1993 Dark Red, Bob's 1993 Ruby, and Dempsey's 1991 White with the stripe

Scotts White 1991 ZR-1 and Nelson's 427 Big Block

Everyone enjoyed Charlie's BBQ. We worked until late to get the job done. Thanks to everyone for all their help turning wrenches.

What can I say guys, Wazoo is a very special group. Many thanks to Phil for driving 3 hours round trip back to Fairfax, VA for parts and staying through to the end with Jim, Kevin and Matt. Thanks to Darrin for going the other direction to PA for parts and adding persuasion when needed. Yun, Scott, Glenn, Ed, Dempsey, Nelson and Bob thanks for adding your talents and a extra pair of hands when needed (except it is hand for Nelson). Jim, thanks for hosting and doing all you do for all of us. The talents in this band of brothers is amazing....I am very grateful for knowing all of you and look forward to changing shift points with my new gears.

I still owe you XM radio install. Couldn't do much with your car on the lift.
Text me brand and model info. I'll search for a hard wire kit.

Really enjoyed spending the day with you guys, helping out where I could, and eating a couple of those BBQ sandwiches...
Jim, thanks again for hosting these and bringing this group together. BTW, I posted a few pics on the LT5/LT4 page on Facebook and your new DPM is getting a lot of attention and positive comments.
