I have been using the splash ZR-1 sticker for the past few years
I don't want the OEM ZR-1 badges there
but what about these:
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-iirAEIYFSjs/VR9SC72EgmI/AAAAAAAAGko/vApLe766Dd4/w1118-h629-no/IMG_20150403_160834500.jpg
It looks good.
Why don't you like the factor ZR-1 badge?

Looking at the picture it is a 1990 so no badge on fender that year. I do however like the LT5 badge, wish there were more to go around.

If "The General" intended there to be anything "on the hood" it would have been pierced for the install. I'd say that anything added to the '90 in that vicinity takes on what might be considered "ricer".
The '90 only has the distinction of the "TPI molding. That needs to be enough.
I saw some snapshots a few weeks ago and I believe I saw a couple of cars with LT5 badges on both ends of the car, even that looked like a "bit much". A single ZR-1 on the rear UNLESS "The General" pierced the hood. The '91 & '92 looks much better than the '90 with the ZR-1 hood-badge.
Under the hood? I believe the way "The General" intended looks much better than some.
Of course that JMO -
The LT5 badging I believe I could "maybe" get accustomed to. Would I if I had them? NO

Makes you wonder why the 90-91 cars had no fender badge? I have had some ZR-1 badges for my 91 for many years just never added them. I think they look great on the later cars and add a visual clue to other drivers that its not your average C4.

I always get the badges on the hood confused with also the HP change and relate the two changes together. The hood badges were '92+ which makes the '91 unique as it's the only with the colored body side moldings NOT to have them.
I like the addition of the badges to the '91+ cars as well as the '91 & '92 cars actually look quite good with body colored wheels. Painted body color saw-blades might be something that I would do. I wouldn't consider coloring the machined wheels, JUST the '91 - '92 saw-blades. The a-molds look quite well colored also with the exception of "white". I've seen I believe 3 that were colored white and "none" matched.
I've got GS a-molds on a '90 and they I believe look like they "belong".

What does the "General" know?? really?? It went out of business and had to be bailed out. It did not and could not build the LT5 engine that sits in the ZR1. They have been putting out garbage for years and still cant catch up to the Japanese car as far as reliability and gas mileage. The General knows nothing. I think the 1990 should have more badges like mine. There is not anything ricer with my car. It kicks ***. If the owner of any ZR1 wants more badging so people can figure out what he is driving then he should put whatever he wants on,, zr1 badge, lt5 badge... My ZR1 is certainly not even close to the fastest car I have owned but the most enjoyable to drive for sure. I am a big fan of the Corvette (owned 8) and other American muscle machines. I dont like foreign cars except for daily driving and trashing.
The designers missed big time not placing more badging on the 1990 and not giving the ZR1 a more distinctive look. I am sure the guys who put out over 60k for these cars did not appreciate the fact that it looked just like another Corvette on the road except for the 3 inches of width it received. Just my 2 cents.

Pardon me for noticing:mrgreen:, but "TPI" on the fender rib is practically nothing, style-wise, compared to the introduction of the convex bumper and squarish tail lights!
To each his own, for sure. But, fender badges be damned! In 91 the entire base model body style practically immolated the ZR-1's distinctiveness. (Talk about a RIP-OFF!) If it was GM's intent to obliterate the ZR-1's distinctive body cues - and I believe it was - the badges are about the only clue left to a layperson, including "Corvette people"!
How subtle the ZR-1 clues? Case in point... The near total "makeover" of the base C4 to look like the ZR-1 is very striking when a ZR-1 badge shows up on the base C4 where it doesn't belong!
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x220/6PPC_bucket/Vettes/5-3-09010.jpg (http://s185.photobucket.com/user/6PPC_bucket/media/Vettes/5-3-09010.jpg.html)
Note: I took the picture of this C4 right after I bought my base 95 C4. It wasn't until I bought my ZR-1 that I realized I'd been spoofed by the fake badge. :o
The 90 is unique too like the 62 Corvette: part older style and party the new. So, for that reason, and the TPI reference on the belt, I'm less in favor of addition of fender badging...but not entirely. (I just likeum. Subtle enough as to only whisper at the surprise hidden under the hood!!)

"BADGING" is a crazy thing, I generally went out of my way to de-badge anything that I owned and most from where I was raised either substituted or did the same thing. The V-283 of the Impala/Chevelle was a good seller to the guys with the 327's - filled the holes and required "no paint". If you had a Pontiac it required paint to de-badge the 421's and try to sneek around. The Fords were the same 352/390/427.
The 421 badge/emblem "stayed" on my Pontiac. Everyone knew anyway but so did many of the guys who spent the loot to swap for the smaller CID badging. They weren't fooling many, no locals.
I sold to a Mustang/FOMOCO re-seller V-6 emblems from the Grand Am by the "dozens" of various colors and the chrome/bright. The RAM AIR V6 were big sellers for him.The "Suercharged" script for the Buicks he bought 50 - 75 at a time. MOBIL-1 under hood-labels He bought 100 at a time. I believe I enjoyed most that all of the badging ended up on FoMoCo stuff.
The fellow who did the Mustang/FoMoCo stuff also bought most of the Aussie Ford performance parts and imported them. Some very nice and unusual stuff. That stuff sold for big dollars.
He collected though Camaro 1LE cars and had some really low mile cars. A really good guy. He did also the decal packages of the NC Trooper cars for restoration pieces. I imagine the original "certified" NC Trooper cars bring reasonable money.
There was a GM Performance - brushed emblem that he bought a couple dozen at a time and I never understood the, why would some guys mail order these when they could walk in off the street and buy the same stuff;
The GM# 25769543 was first under the hood on the tie-bar of the hot rod Cobalts as I remember. They were added to door sills and air cleaner-covers for many other later GM's. Numbers changed and the appearance/materials changed also.

In the early days of the ZR-1 registry (Larry Merow, et al) members often put ZR-1 badges on the front also. And on HIL KING I painted the lettering on my side, rear and front badges red because I thought the standard black ones didn't stand out enough and to match the ZR-1 Splash decal I had on the hood. Each to their own devices I say. --Bob

Jeff,
I like the LT5 its different and looks good however form just this picture I can see the Calipers have the Splash logo on them. I have never been a fan of mixing scrips on the cars my personal preference is a uniform and consistent look. That being said I'd go back with the splash to correspond with the existing logos on the calipers. Got any direct side shots of the entire car to give an idea of the look?

I looked at polishing the AP calipers on our Z and opted for powder coating over polish for maintenance reasons. The "almost chrome" coating is very close to polish and my guy could do the Wilwood logo for you also. He is very good and very reasonable. Regardless of what direction you choose it'll look good.

Well everybody is entitled to their opinion. I just don't like our ZR1's to be referenced as ricer looking just because a couple of factory zr1 badges were added where they should be. That a 1992 and newer looks better with the badges than a 1990 is utterly ridiculous. ridiculous! If you don't like badges then you must not like any hood badges on any year zr1. why does it look bad on a 1990 and great on a 1992?? The General missed the boat period. There designers fell asleep and who knows maybe they wanted to save the two pennies and exclude the two badges on the 1990 and 1991.
Some guys have splash logos on there cars and that is ok. Does that look like a ricer?? To have your car labeled (ricer looking) is a big insult to a Corvette owner. I am for the owner to do whatever he likes within reason but we must agree that a couple of little badges wont make any ZR1 LT5 into a ricer clone ever. Some people might agree that a totally stock 100% car would be quite boring to own and some people might love it that way so we should be a little more accepting of others modest mods and if a car has non stock rims or a couple of accents that the General didnt include with the car new we should not single them out and accuse them of having that ricer look.
The general screwed up many times and shafted lots of hard working American citizens by selling them tons of crappy cars. They have improved over the years but lots of damage has been done. The only chevys I have ever owned have been Corvettes only. I don't respect the General that much any more based on its past performance but I still do like the Corvette. I am a Corvette enthusiast and will always be one. The General is lucky I am loyal to only that brand. There have been great people behind the Chevrolet moniker that have made the car what it is today despite the Generals bean counters and the gluttonous sloths in their ivory towers trying to kill the project for years. Long live the Corvette Zr1 with additional badges of course!!

I like the ZR-1 fender badge because I can pull up to someone at the light or at a constant cruise and they can see this ain't no ordinary C4. Exhaust note will give it away a bit too. I prefer the ZR-1 since most people will recognize that vs knowing what an LT-5 is. I enjoy watching something like a 5.0 or older Cobra run to catch up and then pull alongside. When they see the ZR-1 badge, they keep rolling forward. ;)

What's not to like? Yeah...that's what I keep turning over too. The 90 has the subtle distinction of having the 80s style front bumper with the ZR-1 tail: pretty unique. However, there's very little distinction between a 91 thru 95 that isn't shared by the base cars. So, too, I believe the 91s should have the fender badges. And, if someone adds them, they look like they belong there, have always been there, so as you say...What's NOT to like??
If I had a line on some red badges, I'd probably put them on the 90. Fact is, I like um!

I'm a fan of the ZR-1 "splash" logo. It existed back when these badges were first used, so I think it would be great to have a real cast metal "Splash" logo on the rear, polished, with color painted in. I guess that might be "old school " style, with cast metal LT-5's on the front too, up on the side of the hood bulge.
For such a high end car, those cheeseball plastic stock logos really don't look appropriate to me. To use more than one would be compounding the injury. But that's just my humble opinion.
Stickers? They don't seem substantial enough to go anywhere but under the hood somewhere.
I got into trouble awhile back by mocking the guys who put ZR-1 and LT-5 emblems everywhere possible on a ZR-1. On the nose, at the license plate cover, splashed on the hood, and stuck on the sides of the hood, on every wheel plug cap, on the rear glass, on the vanity tag, on the license plate frame, under the rear in the spare tire well, in the interior, on the seat head rests, on the console, on the dashboard, on the floor mats, on the windshield, on the engine. It can get ridiculous if you don't contain yourself. This is less evident today, because why flaunt that you have a $20K car? This wasn't the same back in the nineties when owners of $70K ZR-1's really wanted you to know it.
Most of us are guilty of one or more of these sins, but I enjoy the stealth nature of the ZR-1. I like it that it's not recognizable. Even my vanity tag- 4CM-LT5 means nothing to your average motorist, or enthusiast. and I like it that way.
I've always said, "Those in the know can tell it's a ZR-1 at a glance, even with no emblems. Those that can't, don't matter to me."

Somewhat current side shot:
Jeff,
Looking at the way the car sits now I like the small splash logo. The logo could maybe be a very small amount larger and just a bit up and back more but that is personal preference. I like the look of your car because firstly it is different from the other cars sporting the OEM fender badge (seems like everyone rocks that look). Secondly the red really goes with the theme of your car the red calipers, the (what looks like later C4 red/black) interior, and other small touches of red throughout your black car is a good look IMHO! The Shelby wheels just top off the car. If it wasn't for holes in the rear bumper I'd say put the splash logo on to replace the OEM unit. Again it is your car and it is all in what YOU want. Its only a sticker. Another thought is remove the fender badge all together and place the splash logo on the rear of the rocker just in front of the rear tire. Not as noticeable as the hood placement but different.

AAFC- The black stripes make that hood look massive. Like those mustang "kill"
stickers.
Alright,
Took some pics of car with hood window, rear wing and a new steering
that i made over the winter.
Hood window- go to this web site www.powerportalproducts.com/ they
have the different types of hood windows. My hood required some extra
work due to the fact its a two piece hood bounded together. I also filled
the center crease with fiber glass to make it smooth so window would fit.
Cost total about $900 with paint and body work on hood that i could not do.
rear wing- made by 49th street called astro-trak brought it in 1997 and no
longer made. This is also a two piece bounded together and it weights
about 20 lbs. Installs on rear glass with mirror clips and fittings that hold
the struts to the glass. Clears ant mast and gas door when closed.
The steering wheel i started work on Sept last year. Wheel is made out
of 1/4 in alu plate held on by six stainless steel screws. Handles are 3/8
in hardwood for knife handles, the back side was hollow out to hide the
horn wires and button.
