I made a suggestion to Robert. I said your LT5 looks like chopped liver compared to mine. Of course he shot me the middle finger and said FU lol! But that if he is willing to spend $600 to get it powder coated that I would be willing to do all of the break down and assembly work on it. And that he would not regret it.

Great of you to offer, even if he did a cheap spray can job it would look much better.

It's almost impossible to get the valve covers out without removing the engine. Otherwise I would definitely at least spray paint my parts.

You don't really need to remove the "Cam Covers".

Not as bad as it sounds.
Remove master cylinder and booster (w/o disconnecting lines), casing around heater/AC stuff on passenger side and move AC compressor (w/o disconnecting hoses) out of the way. Leaves lots of room to pull cam covers.
Hardest part was disconnecting brake pedal under the dash. That's where TomTom
came in handy! He's a little more flexible then I am....

I'd do it for you Ryan. But man I'd have to charge you $850. It is about 16 hours worth of work and very labor intensive. But if 15-20 rwhp is worth it to you then do it. And while everything is off of the car you might as well spend an additional $$ for the powder coating. The only part of removing the cam covers that is not fun is removing the 4 nuts that hold the brake booster on. Once the brake booster is out of the way and that heat sink case bolted to the passengers side is out of the way your good to go. If you a fat man good luck squeezing down in the foot well to reach the the bolts lol! And take the seat out.

He's right! Take the 10 minutes it takes to remove the driver's seat.
Makes it a lot easier.
Not only that, I found a couple quarters under the seat!
Didn't put much of a dent in the overall cost of the project though...
