Hello all,

A few months ago I was ready to leave the ZR-1 community for good after not being able to register my 90Z in Japan, then moving back to Hawaii, only to have to move to California 2 months later. After doing some research I gave up on the idea that I was going to be able to get the 90 registered here in Cali with all the mods. I was about ready to part out or sell my 90Z when I started to look for a replacement old school muscle car.

Fast forward to last month when I made a trip to D.C. for work and met with WAZOO members (Rich and Yun) on separate occasions since my training was conveniently at the Washington D.C. Auto Show. We had discussions about what I was going to do and some of the cars I had been thinking about. I realized the good friends I met here and at the few Gatherings I attended over the years (once from Georgia and once from Hawaii) and could not get myself to leave.

So fast forward to a few weeks ago and I bought the Black/Black 95 that was advertised on the Registry from a local Northern California owner. I noticed that this specific car was also mentioned in the recent Corvette Magazine about the bargains out there for ZR-1s.

Well, here it is:

This car was a deal that I simply could not pass up since Black is the color that I should have had from the start. I could not have bought it from better people than Bob and Valerie; what a nice couple and awesome people. I promised I would take care of this car for them and they threw in so much extra stuff that I had to make two trips to haul the items home with my wife's car. Should have just brought the truck. The first thing I did was swap out the Black Chrome Repo A-Molds (I will be selling) and put on my CCWs that I had in storage. The factory A-Molds are in storage to keep them pristine. Is it a perfect 10 car, no and that would not have been good because I want to drive it (29,000 miles now). I plan to keep it pretty much stock to ensure I have the best chances to pass SMOG.

Anyway, after this I am now pretty much with the ZR-1 family for a while now. Just came back from taking the wife out to dinner for her birthday in this car and just love it. What a difference it is from the 90 I have. Now the only question is what I will do with the 90.

Take care and Aloha!

Thanks Ted! That sound like an awesome idea and I think I can manage that. I would like to also venture to BG Gathering, but I don't know I can do that these days.

WOW Brother, Glad you stayed with us and picked up the 95 in the process. Not sure how much luck a mod-brother is going to have keeping it stock, [-X Congrats! on the new bad-azz Z. Looks like a twin to mine :saluting:

A big  to you Craig! And, just as happy to see you're still with us! Lots of reasons NOT to go back to Kalifornia again; emissions BS is just the tip of the iceberg. But, have heart: there are places in this world, IL being one, OBD-1 is exempt. And, if that isn't enough, then the age or certain counties will exempt it from testing as well.

Too bad you couldn't keep 'em both. But, I think you landed a beauty, and kept it in the Brotherhood to boot! Congratz, bro!

Hope to see you at BG? This would be the year to be there!

So glad you decided to stay, Craig. With your '95, you now have "the" car and "the" network. Now that you're back on the continent, I hope we can connect other than by mail. Any chance you will make it to BG in a couple of months?

Thanks for your thoughts and it was the WAZOO brothers that sealed the deal for me to get another ZR-1 and not give up. You know I want to be like you....Black Z and all. In this states I might have to go all show and no go.

Glad to hear the good news,Craig!

Thanks Clint! I had my eye on yours if I knew I could pass CA SMOG. Best wishes with your health and sale.

Very nice Craig!

Thanks for your thoughts Bob. Love the mods you have been doing.

Hey P, Thanks for your thoughts and not sure what to do. We love it here so far, but it does make it difficult. Yeah, I would love the track the 90 if possible. I hope I can make it to BG and this would be the year with 25th and 20th for the 95. The last one I attended was the 20th so 5 years already.

So glad you decided to stay, Craig. With your '95, you now have "the" car and "the" network. Now that you're back on the continent, I hope we can connect other than by mail. Any chance you will make it to BG in a couple of months?

Bob

Thanks Bob. Yes, it is this group and brotherhood that made it impossible to leave. I hope I can make it and meet all of you there. I'll try my best, it just sucks to be Zless at the Gathering.

Glad your staying with us Craig. I guess BG would be a bit to far to come from Cali....wait, you came to BG when you were in HI? LOL! Congrats!!
Rich

Hey Rich, You're partly to blame for me buying another ZR-1. But its friends like you that make it all worthwhile. I wish I could get the balls to drive out there. I'm going to try my best to make it.

Hey Tom, long time no hear. Thanks and I knew you would be partial to the "Once you go black, you never go back". Take care.

Rickey,
No offense but I would say yours may be an evil twin, perhaps?

Craig,
I'm so glad that you found and able to cut a deal on an exact Z you were looking for. So glad that you will be hanging with us for awhile. Now, let's see if we can help you get rid of that angelic halo...

All,

Thanks for all the love and sorry for the late reply. I am in a graduate program and it is killing me at this age. I will tell every young person I see to go to school when you're young........

I am also going to try my best to make it to BG to see all of you.

In black and especially with those wheels, your car has my vote for most badass Z of all time!

Thanks for your thoughts and greatly appreciated. Too many badass Zs in our community and this one is all show and no go for now.

I really appreciate it and like they say in an opposite way, "It's the people, not the cars"!

Craig, looks great I would not expect any less from you. Cant wait to hear about the mods.

Thanks Robert! I might have to leave this one alone so I can pass SMOG in this state.

Very nice Craig

Big Mahalo Frank! I was in the right place at the right time I suppose.

Looks great congratulations?

Thanks Dave, I really appreciate it.

Nice purchase Craig.. So is the 90 in CA or HI currently?

Thanks Jeff. I have been thinking about those BFR rockers we bought and never thought about Satin black. My 90 is here, but kicked out of the garage on the side of the house....so sad! It is covered well though and not sure what to do. A friend invited me to go track the cars so I might looking to keep it for that if nothing else. I don't think anyone will buy it.

Yun,

I'm holding you and Rich responsible for talking me into it. Thanks for your thoughts and I'll do what I can get away with here in CA. 0

Hey Craig--great purchase. I sent you a PM about it the other day and wondered if you might have missed it. --Bob

Thanks Bob. Sorry, I have been buried and finally getting around to answer posts and emails with my schooling consuming my life. PM sent.

Congrats Craig and so glad to see you find a great ride and solution. Nice color too!!!!

Big B, It has been a long time. Thanks and so nice to drive a Z again. Once you go black, you never go back.........

Congrats ! Car looks beautiful ! As much as I tinker with my cars I have a soft spot for completely stock cars. I love the square exhaust tips on the Z ! Really like the wheels too.. big fan of the ccws and step lips !

Hey Mike, Thanks, but you know I still have dreams about your awesome car (one of my all time favorites...short list). I'm on the fence, but trying to keep it stock. Just installed Marc's version 4 chip tonight.

Congrats Craig. Very nice looking Z. Hope you are able to work things out with your 90. That too is one good looking ZR-1!

Thanks, I really appreciate your thoughts. I think I will end up having to get rid of the 90 but really want to keep the motor.......0

Car looks great Craig, check it out in a few weeks.

Thanks and can't wait to meet you and see the Rolex of wheels too (your HREs).0
