Gents,

Just now getting around to making my reservations for Bowling Green and the 25th... who else is planning to go and what are your thoughts on travel, hotels and events? It would be great to caravan down/back and synch schedules if we can.

Scott,
I am planning on doing both the mountain run and BG and have made all hotel reservations. Just hope no surprises with work like last year.

Iunderstand the FBI and Texas crowd are going to show us their talents at BG. I will be sticking to cooking at Carlisle........got some new ingredients from New Orleans for the rubs. Will have a special section for those who like it on the HOT side but still lots of taste (if the taste buds are still intact)...for the rest, will stick with just tasty, finger lickin good.

OK... so before I make my reservations, I wanted to make sure that I have the agenda correct:

10 May - drive down; overnight at Fontana Village
11 May - MR day 1; overnight at Fontana Village
12 May - MR day 2; overnight at Country Inn/Suites or Candlewood Suites in Alcoa
13 May - MR day 3; arrive BG with overnight at Holiday Inn University Plaza
14-16 May - Gathering in BG; overnights at Holiday Inn University Plaza
17 May - drive back

Is this what everyone is planning? First time attendee, so let me know what other stuff you all might be planning to do in BG. Is anyone a definite for the track day options or tours? Looking forward to it!!

Scott, you have the correct schedule and hotels. I believe the tours and track days are still in process.

Scott,
There is a MR3 tread tracking activities and you should get Gunny your name and email address so he can add you to the count. There were some early posts from John Porter about a meet in Winchester on the way to MR3. Jim Voter said he will be bringing a group with him from MD to meet the rest of us in Winchester. Keep and eye out for post in the MR3 thread or here.

Rich,

Thanks... I was looking at that thread this morning and will definitely get in touch with Gunny once I finish making the reservations this afternoon. Hopefully availability won't be an issue this late in the game. I just wanted to make sure that I had the schedule right before trying to book the rooms, and will hook up with the rest of the MD group for the drives down and back. I even ordered new tires today, so I'm not traveling on the rock-hard tires she's wearing right now.

Scott,

You shouldn't have any problems with rooms in Alcoa, but don't wait too long. I'm not sure if there is a cutoff date for our block of rooms. Fontana may be getting filled up and if they do, let us know so that we can figure out Plan B. Same thing for BG reservations ... the main hotel is the Holiday Inn U-Plaza but there are other hotels close by.

When/if you decide to do MR3, click HERE (http://www.zrwon.com/contact/index.html) and send me your name, email address, etc. plus any questions you might have. Be sure to bookmark the two threads dealing with this year's mountain run.

Gents,

I have rooms booked at all three locations (Fontana Village, Country Inn and Suites, and Holiday Inn University Plaza). So, if anyone is interested in cutting the hotel costs in half by sharing a room (would be $470 each instead of $940), let me know. In case you are wondering: I don't plan to spend much time in the room, and I don't snore, sleepwalk, smoke, or have any odd habits. I'd just feel less guilty about spending so much just on myself and not on the whole family. Let me know if anyone wants to go in with me on this.

You might want to post your room info on the other two MR3 threads in case someone is interested.

Yeah... I thought it would be easier to work out the details with someone local and who will be traveling down with the group. It's probably only important for the first night's check in. So, if no one here is interested I'll post it up on the other threads in a couple of days. Once the blocks of rooms are gone (and I think that we're close to that point now), there may still be a few people who want to join us for MR3 and/or be at the Holiday Inn in BG.

I have all my reservations and am looking forward to the trip. I am glad you will be joining us Scott.

Current plan is for WAZOO guys to meet John Porter (from PA) in Winchester, VA on Sunday morning, time TBD. I will probably meet the NoVA guys some where in VA and head for Winchester with you. I haven't talked to Nelson yet about his plans.

George (Gunny) is doing a fantastic job putting the Mountain Run together and making it sure to be a success.

Jim,

Sounds awesome and I'm excited to go! Which car are you bringing?

My plans are to meet you guys since I'm the only ZR-1 around these parts that lives here. Been on the track several times now. I think that you will enjoy it. They've been working on the NCM quite a bit now since the hole was filled in. Should look pretty spiffy when you guys get here. The dome won't be finished until July or in that time frame. Let's be careful out there!

Jim, this is probably premature but thought I would mention it as the I-81 caravan starts planning the Sunday drive from Winchester. The most "obvious" route is I-81 to I-40, then south from Knoxville through Alcoa, Maryville, and the Dragon. Even though it's Sunday, the traffic from Knoxville to south of Maryville can be bothersome and driving the Dragon after a full day's drive can be an even greater challenge.

Consider I-81 south to I-26 south to Asheville, then I-40 west to Exit 27 onto US-74 that becomes the Great Smoky Mountain Expressway. Take a right on NC-28 and continue to Fontana Village. Advantages: 4 lane scenic & easy roads until the final 25 miles. Both I-26 from the Tri-Cities to Asheville and the GSM Expressway are great roads with impressive scenic views.

Gents,

I have rooms booked at all three recommended locations (Fontana Village, Country Inn and Suites, and Holiday Inn University Plaza) for MR3 and the 25th Gathering at Bowling Green. if anyone is interested in cutting the hotel costs in half by sharing a room ($470 each instead of $940 for all 7 nights), let me know asap. I was hoping someone local would want to jump on this, but I'll open the offer to the wider group of members tomorrow.

Kevin,
I am not driving this year due to shoulder surgery. I booked a flight to Nashville and rented a car with automatic and than drive to BG.
