Talked with Goodyear this past week and was told they are planning on running a new batch of tires for our ZR1's. They plan to run within the next couple of months and should be available shortly there after. I talked with a friend who sell tires and he confirmed he was given a run date as well. For all of us hoping to buy Goodyear tires for our car, it looks like it may actually happen. There is hope.

I know there are more than a few Sumitomo owners (like me) who would be greatly interested in the GY at Nitto prices....

Wouldn't we all, price to keep GY blimp up there

Seriously, aside from keeping the blimp floating, can anyone explain the significant price delta between the GY and Sumitomo? In side-by-side comparison the GY is only slightly better in most categories, yet cost almost 3x's the Sumi's.

A set F/R of GY is $1278 and a set F/R of Sumi's is $528. I would obviously like to keep GY on my ZR-1, but I am having difficulty justifying the difference in price.

Is this truly a case of, "You get what you pay for."?

Thanks.

I have worn out a few sets of Sumi's. I have run the GYs, Goodrich, Pirelli, and have settled on Nitto 555s as the best tire for me so far. No matter what I buy the rears wear in half the time as compared to the fronts.

My tire guy says you get what you pay for. I've PS2's on the car now and have been VERY happy with them. Currently at $500 per for the rears. Just bought Eagle F1's for the rear, but have not mounted them yet. $380 per for the rears. We'll see.

Where is the best price for these tires? Tire rack I assume? From my recent Tire Rack order:

275/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 - $292.00 ea.
315/35ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 - $347.00 ea.
Shipping Cost: $96.64
Taxes: $82.47
Fees: $4.00

Total: $1,461.11

Prior to ordering, I checked for a possible ZR-1.net discount, but Directperformancetires did not have any GY F1 tires in stock.

Pretty fun coming home to a stack of fresh fatties.

Since my Corvette is still at the paint shop, I only had my Miata around to check how they'll look.
