Anyone put splash guards on their car to to protect paint? If so where did you purchase and are there any pictures?

No such thing! I used Dr. Colorchip repair followed by 3M defender spray on film. 3M film acts like a clear coat and hides minor difference between the paint and Dr. Colorchip repair work. If I can do this with a black car, can be done with any other color.
Since then, I had some insurance paid paint repair so I went ahead and re-sprayed both rockers followed by 3m Clear Bra. It was not that difficult. Now I can drive without cringing whenever I hear pebbles spun up by the tires.
Dr. colorchip and spray on defender work should be done at 75 plus temperature. 3M clear bra film should be applied at 50 plus degree space per instruction but I prefer 65 or warmer.

I have these on the front and rear. Not even noticeable and could not think of driving without them.

I think my last set I got from Corvette America. I'm 1.5 miles of dirt before I get to the asphalt. These are a must for me.

Just something else to consider, but I have "helicopter tape" on all the susceptible areas of a different sports car I own. Helicopter tape is like industrial grade Scotch tape, but it is made to protect the paint on cars, especially behind the wheels. I think it was originally intended to protect the leading edge of rotor blades on helicopters, hence the name. It comes in different thicknesses, and often it is custom cut and "pre-curved". If you apply it with a heat source you can obtain great results as a DIY project. Be patient with it. Not a huge fan of mud flaps. You can find the tape on ebay.

My Z has never needed splash guards.
She'd have to be driven in the rain and that has never happened.
I'm pretty sure the wiper blades are original.
Never needed, never used.

I got mine from Exclers I believe. They curve up at the corner and really aren't that noticeable. I don't drive in the rain but if they'll keep rocks and other crap from being thrown up on the rockets than they are worth it! I'll try to snap a pic tomorrow and post it for you.

I have the black plastic molded flairs and they look tasteful and keep the rocks off the paint

the stickier and wider the tire the worse this gets

my pilot cups when new picked up half the street as do the hoosiers!

If you just hafta have 'em, the ones like Cliff has are what I'd choose, if I were ever to do it again. But, there is another kind that more than a "flap", but rather a 3-dimentional guard that shapes back behind the flap and actually comes in contact with the paint. Those...I don't recommend (not if you care for the paint at all!)

Yes, I'm aware of the clear plastic tape you're supposed to place on the paint to isolate the plastic guard from the paint. However, dust collects inside and naturally gets down uder the edges of the guard and in short order has "burned" through the protective plastic tape and into the paint. (Damn things went right into the primer!)

3M makes a clear paint shield intended for protecting the paint on the rockers aft of the wheels. I've not tried it, but that seems to me to be the better approach. (We kid (a little) about not driving in the rain as Corvettes will melt. Well, they might not melt, but I'm just as adamant when it comes to NOT driving on gravel![-X

I had splash guards on HIL KING for a while--can't remember if I eventually removed them. I have never had them on WAPR TEN. I think they probably help with nicks and tar especially on the rear quarters. --Bob
