how does our factory security system work in our cars. My security light was flashing in my dash and my interior lights were on. I checked all doors and hatches, hood etc... to make sure all is closed. It finally stopped flashing but it brought down the charge on my battery. I always have a battery tender on my car and the light is always green. If the light is red, it means it is charging the battery.

after about two weeks the light was red on my tender. I kept an eye on it for 3 days and the tender was still charging. the battery was not malfunctioning and neither was the tender. I opened the door and the security light on the dash came on along with the interior lights. when I sat in the drivers seat the and closed the door the security light flashing light turned off and the interior lights turned off. I opened and closed the door several times while I was seated in the front seat and each time the security light turned off and lights went off. I got out of the drivers seat and closed the door and the security light stayed on along with the interior lights. I sat inside the car again and the security light turned off along with the interior lights. Is there some sensor in the drivers seat or something that would make that happen??

I am currently charging the battery with my heavy duty charger which will fully charge it in 3 hours. How do I disable the factory security system?

any info will be appreciated.

Edram454, I just did what you did in my car and here is how it reacted.
Open door - security light flashes, interior lights come on.
Close door security light goes off, interior lights stay on for 20 seconds.
Open door sit in seat security light flashes, interior lights on.
Close door security light goes out, interior lights stays on for 20 seconds or less if I insert key in ignition and turn it to on.
Open door, get out of seat, security light flashes, interior lights on.
Close door, security light goes out interior stays on for 20 seconds.
I suspect you may have a door switch acting up or the CCM/wiring has a problem as it controls everything.

found the culprit. my battery. it was only registering 10.52 volts after being on battery tenders and then a powerful battery charger. went to advance auto and bought new optima red top gel battery.. 235.00 and problem is gone. security light goes out and interior lights go off as they should. apparently our cars dont like weak batteries. my battery was only 1 year old. I needed a more powerful cranking battery.

Good that you found the problem. These electronic cars don't like weak batteries. Only one year old battery, must have had a weak cell at manufacturing. I suspect these kind of problems will surface more with newer vehicles as they are getting loaded with everything. My neighbor has a new Cadillac and they can hardly figure out how to start it let alone the heads up displays, navigation assist, parking assist, power folding seats, power rear door lift, rear view cameras etc. etc. The car should come with a spare generator cart behind it. :)
