Any thoughts on "chrome" powder coat vs bright silver metallic for the plenum?
I don't expect the chrome PC to be like the real thing but
the samples look pretty good. The black chrome PC on a friend's
Callaway C16 blower looks real good, almost as shiny as the real thing.

Whatever you like is the right answer. I used what Marc Haibeck calls "Fine Silver" that is his closest match to stock, and I retained stock black bolts because my plan was to keep the look as close to stock as possible (the "Haibeck 350 510 HP" letters are removable). Also I know Marc has his engines painted rather than use powder coating, although I can't remember what is reasoning was on this. You might give him a call to ask. Also his website has a number of pictures of different finishes.--Bob

Doug,

One thing I was mindful of when picking the finish and color was long term wear characteristic. Real shiney tends to show scratches and may dull in time - just my assumption. Also, shiney finish tends to show surface imperfection more readily.

The original AP Calipers on our Z were polished and one of the PO’s had painted them red that combined with years of neglect and stains left them unpolishable. No matter how much polishing the calipers still looked dirty. I opted for the “Almost chrome” Powder coat and it has held up really well.

There's no turning back now...
Plenum etc off and already back from powdercoater
Looks great!
Cam covers and IHs removed and off to powdercoater soon.
Lots of room to remove cam covers when the master
cylinder and booster are removed.
Cover bolts were tough though, a bigger hammer (BMFH)
for smacking the impact driver solved that problem!
All came out with none snapped off or boogered up!

I would have chosen Hugger Orange; just to be different from body color!
