Same but I have heard of one now--left headlight will not retract. I'm looking for a used one because you're correct on usual reliability. I have a few in GA storage but I can't find one in the stuff I brought to Vegas.

Maybe it's time to rebuild the headlight motor - does the motor run for about 5 seconds and then stop with the housing not moving? If so, get ye to the HELP section in any auto store for #74410 - same thing all the Corvette suppliers sell.
