Looks like a beautiful car Kevin. I love that color and had it been available when I bought Warp Ten I would have leapt on it. Hard to be sure from the pics but your delam doesn't look too bad. 95s are notorious for delam (look at #448 in the museum). Mine has just a small rim of delam around the edges. Good luck with the sale. -- Bob

Bob,
Thanks, Windshield delam is very bad looks like streaks of dirt running down it,lol. I have had 3 other ZR1s (2-91s,1-94) 2-91s had none the 94 had some around the edges but this car is by far the worst. Kevin

Dark Purple is the rarest color for all ZR-1's. It was only offered in 1995, and only 25 were made total.
Good luck with the sale.

1995 Purple/Black 4075 miles, 2 tops ,2 Dunn heads #260. The 3 faults with this car are windshield( delamination),the ashtray cover paint is bubbled due to the previous owner leaving an air freshener on it and the fuel gauge does not work. I was hoping to run a few tanks through it with SeaFoam as advised but if not pulling the in-tank sender.
This car has all its history in a large binder that includes W/S titles, mags, license plates, brochure, sales receipts and every sticker tag,etc that came with the car brand new plus more. It has 3 Lloyd mats the original driver and pass are new in a bag.Its like a time capsule. To much other stuff to list here but you get the point. 1st owner was a collector ,2nd owner bought car with 775 miles on it.
Price is firm at 45K. Please call for a full detailed description, serious only please. 801-949-1592
I live in Park City,Utah but the car is in ST.George Utah so I cant provide any more pics than what I took on delivery for now. Kevin Caruso
Hey Kevin, perhaps the windshield on your car came from an especially bad batch. I own #261 which was also in a collector's hands prior to my buying it four months ago with 1853 miles on it. Yes, another time capsule. This is my third ZR-1 (both of the previous were '90 cars), but the windshield on this '95 #261 was just as you describe #260. It was the worst I'd ever seen. I had to get it replaced before I'd even dare drive the car. It was that bad!!

I was told a bunch of 95s have this problem so i guess someone was obviously having a bad year at the plant where these windshields came from, lol. There is also no sense in buying an OEM one either as it will do the same...If I keep the car I do intent on replacing it with a regular 95 WS as it looks horrible and I dont care about the NCRS judging part.

My Purple/Blk 95 "Z" has the same type of delam. It actually looks like it was sprayed with something during the manufacturing process and not wiped off before lamination of the glass. Imagine Windex sprayed on the glass and not wiped off. The edges of the glass are fine.
My car is #089.
Luckily, I have a new ZR-1 windshield in a crate.

Kevin, that's exactly what I did. The standard windshield with installation was dirt cheap. A car dealer I know who sells lots of used Corvettes told me he has an installer who's done tons of Corvettes and he would have him replace the windshield for me. If I'm not mistaken, the replacement--which looks great--cost me somewhere between $150 to $200. I'm sure it wasn't any more than that. Like you I plan to enjoy this car. It's not often that you can buy a car that's 19 years old and it's still like brand new. It's especially great when that car is one you love more than anything that's being currently produced. Let the NCRS people enjoy looking at their cars...I drive mine!

Had to step in at this point, most people have this perception of NCRS which is absolutly incorrect!
First NCRS promotes driving corvette's, even adding overall points for driving a car to an event while flight judging!
Second NCRS encourages owner's to preserve the Corvette in it's orignal form. This doesn't mean aftermarket parts will hinder an indididual from achieving awards, in some cases it's a must. Some parts are not available anymore period.
Just to be clear given your car or Kevin's car with a replacement windshield would most certainly Top Flight with no problems ever.

I own purple/black '95 VIN 140.
My windshield delamination is just starting to go from barely noticeable to average for an almost 20 year old ZR.
Someone mentioned above that if finger prints and streaks from washing is left on the back side of the glass, that causes delam to develop.
I agree with that. Right around the cutout, where one's fingers touch the glass when installing/removing a radar detector, my windshield has that orangish/brown delam which looks like finger smudges and fingerprints.
