NCRS Performance Verification Award®Back to Top

This award was created by the National Corvette Restorers Society in 1985, the award recognizes individuals for the restoration and preservation of 1953 -1996 Corvettes. To achieve this award, an owner must attain a NCRS Flight award® based on an original "as manufactured" standard at a NCRS event; as well as present the car for a rigorous performance test of all vehicle mechanical components and functions, all of which must operate as those of a new car, without a single failure. As of today only 1,396 Corvettes have received the NCRS Performance Verification award

Good luck!!! We'll probably see ya there!

Helpful hints:
*Squirt a little WD40 on your rear storage compartment lid
latches so they latch when dropped from about 6 inches
*wipe a little WD40 on your hatch strut operating rods so they work smoother, they may bust your stones because the hatch does not go all the way up by itself
*know how to open the rear hatch manually, theres a cable you can pull buried under the carpet near the pull handle for the "shade"

my first goal if my car passes the very tough PV judging will be the:
NCRS Dave Hill Award.

NCRS HILL Mark of Excellence Award®

This award was created by the National Corvette Restorers Society in honor of Mr. David C. Hill, Chief Engineer for the Chevrolet Corvette from November 18, 1992 until his retirement January 1, 2006. The Hill Award recognizes individuals for the restoration and preservation of 1993 - 1996 Corvettes.. To achieve this coveted award, an owner must attain a judging score of at least 97% out of 100 based on an original "as manufactured" standard at a National or Regional NCRS event; as well as present the car for a rigorous performance test of all vehicle mechanical components and functions, all of which must operate as those of a new car, without a single failure. Finally, the car must again score at least 97%, at a National NCRS Convention, to receive the Hill Award. The process of achieving the Hill Award requires attendance at a minimum of three events, and must be completed within a three year period. Only 23 Corvettes have achieved the Hill Mark of Excellence. Dave Hill has personally awarded the special plaque bearing his name at our annual NCRS National Convention.

Here we go again...

Can you use your (and the Registry's) influence to find out how many ZR-1s?
1990-94 too, while your at it...
Doug. :)

As an NCRS member I requested that info by vin and was told they do not track such info???
The Corvette Restorer magazine, Vol 41, Number 1 Summer 2014 provided a matrix with car yrs 53-96, the number that has been awarded Top Fight, 2nd Flight and the rest of the awards thru NCRS. What is missing with the C4 yrs is a separate breakdown for the ZR1s.
An example, 1990 shows 97 cars achieving Top Flight status, 16 PV, 15 McLellan, 5 Cross Flag. The question is of the above numbers how many are ZR1s?
For 1995 there are 7 Hill Awards.

Assuming NCRS has the vin number of every car it has ever judged,
all they'd have to do is sort the vin number list for Z23.
That is assuming they have a computer (perhaps a TRS80, they like old things...)
and aren't still using a pencil and paper.

THANK YOU all for the kind words

The NCRS Reginal Meet Is less than a week away
I am constantly going over all the things that will be juged in
Performance Verification

there are 3 pages of line items
and a 10mile "road Test"

you can only score 100%
1 failure and your pretty much done
( they do give you 1 chance to fix one problem )
But unless it's a bulb or a fuse what can you fix when your miles from home with a 15 minute time limit.

I will say I am Really learning more about the 95 c4 as a car, how things should operate correctly and all of its creature comforts.

Am I correct in assuming that the MSRP in the article was for the 1990 ZR-1 as listed below???
.......................Base Corvette Coupe $31,979
.......................ZR-1 Special Performance Package $27,016
........................Total $58,995

My window sticker for the 94....
.........................Base Corvette $36,000 +
........................ZR-1 Special Performance Package $31,258
My Total..............$67,993

So the cost of the ZR-1 increased $9000 during its span? Interesting.....

Again, nice copy and great pics for your ZR-1....

Congrats on passing the PV! That's the hardest part of the "process".
You should have no problem going the rest of the way! Great car!
Doug

Update on the how many ZR-1s have obtained Top Flight awards:
At the NCRS Regional meet in Marlboro MA last weekend, I spoke with the NCRS Judging Chairman, when asked "the" question, he responded "We do not give out that information". When asked why, he arrogantly repeated "We do not give out that information". The conversation went down hill fast after that...
Should be pretty easy for them to figure out?
He did say they have the VIN of every car ever judged by NCRS and
"I know how to sort a list on an XL spreadsheet" (sort for Z23) but they won't do it. Evidently, that's too hard and not included in the $35 yearly dues...
So, I guess, bottom line, we'll never know until they figure out a way for anyone who cares to pay for it?
I'm glad I didn't renew my membership...
