Recently, the low oil lamp has been turning on when I start the car. I can swear that it alternates. Whenever it comes on, I turn off the ignition, start again and the light is always off. I've also been slowly adding more engine oil, about 1 oz each time for 3 times. Doesn't seem to make it difference. There's a small oil stain on the cardboard I put on the ground below the engine, but nowhere remotely near the amount I've added. Any idea what's going on? Could it be a faulty sensor? Thanks.

As long as it is indicating pressure in the middle region of the gauge once it has run for a couple seconds, and the level on the dipstick is in the normal range, then the sensor (level or pressure) becomes suspect, in my mind.
Can you shed anymore light on just exactly what it is you're seeing in the way of a warning light??
