I'm buying a 1991 ZR1. I hated C4 Vettes when I was a kid, Dad had AMX's and all Vettes were just Tupperware 2 Seaters, with the C4 being a NEW car and new cars sucked... Then Motor Trend featured the 90' ZR1 and I read that Mag front to back countless times falling in love at 13...
At 37, the C4 is now my favorite Vette, the clamshell hood and interior just scream racecar to me and I've been looking for a while. Just went to the Vette Museum in Kentucky and I vowed to come back with a Z next year and park in the Vette parking only section!
So i found a 1991 with 56k miles for 15k. The owner agreed to sell for 14k and I'll be taking possession next week...
Is there a way to find out what number this ZR1 is? The VIN is 1G1YZ23J7M5801616, is there anyone on here that has a carfax subscription? I understand that there is an accident on the record from a 2002 post on a corvetteforum post...
Anyways, from 10 ft it is a solid 10. Up close a strong 8, weak 9. Runs and drives great! Has a high idle, will find the vacuum leak when i get it... Needs a TPS sensor and one rear shock to clear the two codes.
Enjoy the pics!

Welcome to the club! Lots of Houston area owners. Good people, too. You're not far from Corey and he is def the go to guy in these parts.
Once we settle into the mid '90's and get the heat index down to around 100 or so we'll throw together a meet somewhere. It'll be posted here on the site.
There is a ton of info here on the forum as well as on the ZR-1 Net Registry site (2 different places). Here's the link:http://www.zr1netregistry.com/. And there isn't a question about your car that can't be answered here. Trust me.

Well I'm in town (on the clock) until the 5th (going to my ships decom). But I'll be going to cars and coffee the first sunday of October...
Just got the car... I think my wifes SRT8 is faster ;( but the wife wouldn't race me with the station wagon today.
Got some questions about the IAT, there is a IAT at the TB horn, that has a sensor and one at the intake. Should i move the sensor to the IAT at the intake?
I noticed the coolant at about 3/4 while driving 35-45 mph on my back roads. Is that ok?

"I think my wifes SRT8 is faster ;( but the wife wouldn't race me with the station wagon today."
From Car and Driver
For 2014, Jeep's Grand Cherokee SRT loses the SRT8 moniker and gains an ... out of the company's high-performance shop will be badged simply as SRT. ... (We achieved a 0–60 run of five flat and a quarter-mile of 13.7 seconds in our most ...
I think you will do just fine against this one Big I.
Now if she happens to have the TEAM H model --- Well........
Jeep recently updated its Grand Cherokee SRT for the 2014 model year with some esthetic upgrades and some 470 horsepower sent to all four wheels. That's not quite enough for some.
Now John Hennessey and his team have gotten their hands on it and given it a bit more power. The Hennessey altered Jeep now puts out 650 horsepower, which will push it to 0-60 in 3.9 second and a 12.6-second quarter-mile time.
Buyers looking at the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S could have faster and Hennessey-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT instead for around the $90,000 mark, "all in."
Read more: http://www.leftlanenews.com/0-60-in-39-seconds-with-a-hennessey-jeep-srt8.html#ixzz3Bl0lqaap
BTW all the above would be the Quicker Measurements. For the Fastest that would be the Top End MPH.
For some reason the Mag Rags always say faster when they really mean quicker.

If the MAT sensor is re-positioned to the intake tract, the calibration should be modified to reflect that.

Wife has a tuned Magnum, we call it the man wagon. Kicks the tail or going into second, likely is a high 12 wagon now. Magnums haul *** and stuff.
I am so surprised with how well this Z rides and drives. There is an issue with a shock that is giving a light, I don't know if that pulls power, but the car rides like a dream. All of the forum's that I've read for the past 5 years say that if you drive a c4 you will lose teeth. Wrong, this is great, and the handling, OMG is like being attached to rails. I use to think that the SRT8 handled well, wrong. .lol.
Going into second you can't pussyfoot around, you have to put it in gear all the way or it will grind. Still learning what she likes, this is going to be a fine relationship, me and #1616, I can already tell!

Soundz like it would be a good race between the two. In the long run the Z will pull away but you will need a good long stretch to achieve that.

You can get the shocks rebuilt if they need it - may be just a sensor issue.
I don't know if that pulls power,
Should not cause any power loss - you will know if the 2ndaries are not working since that would be the same performance as with the key off only 200HP.
but the car rides like a dream. All of the forum's that I've read for the past 5 years say that if you drive a c4 you will lose teeth.
My 84 rode like a rock -- The Z with the 3 setting is great especially considering the large tires. A big difference indeed with the active shocks for sure.
Wrong, this is great, and the handling, OMG is like being attached to rails.
That is what really IMO differentiates a Vette from all others (cept maybe a Viper) - America's true Sports Car.

May need a tranny rebuild some day in the future IMO

You are experiencing what we call the PERMAGRIN on this forum.
I can already tell!

HAHA... Yeah, the smiles per gallon in this Tupperware Two Seater are tattoo'd on my face for sure!
--Dad and i showed AMX's in te 80's, our competitor at the shows was the Vette. Dad would win with his American Dream 69 AMX, but the club called Vette's Tupperware Two Seaters.. I'm going to continue the household tradition. LOL
Check out his pretty girl, I told her that she would get to ride in the Vette if she beat her older sister to get dressed. She dressed to match the car all by herself!

When I was 19 I went to Hawaii (Maui) and my ride was a Gold 1968 Javelin - like this one
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p110/HAMMERHATE/68-javelin_zps74824850.jpg
It had black interior high back seats - a nice sound system - converted 3 on the floor - wide azz tires with shackle bar lift - so it had classic attitude and the 304 engine. - Did great burnouts with the wide tires. Was lots of fun to drive all around Maui - But my endless summer was over and time to come back to the mainland to finish up college so had to sell her (actually made $ on the sale as well)
A friend in high school had a bad azz AMX that ended up at the Pontiac dealer (I worked there as a detailer and shop chump after high school classes were done for the day - it was fun doing burnouts with the 455 Trans-Am's and I perfected my hole shots down the street out of the view of the dealership in the late PM when only a few salesmen were still on duty) on a trade he did. I sure wish I had the $ to buy it but I didn't so I just kept truckin in my 68 Bronco - like this one but no lift kit
