In my 90 ZR1 the Bose radio turns on and receives channels. When I turn the volume all the way up have minor sound out of one rear speaker. Otherwise no sound from other speakers. Thoughts on solving the problem?

I would guess the blose amps are bad in every speaker.

Thanks. That is my guess but thought an easier fix might be out there.

We have all gone through it at one time or the other.

Consider sending the entire speaker enclosures off to Bose.

hope and pray you do`nt end up having to pull that cdm box. theres nothing too pulling those amps but that box will test you`re religion.

I am having a similar problem if it comes to having to pull the box is does anyone have advice on how or a set of directions. Also is it better to fix the original bose or to change to a newer system i so which one the only reason i asked is because repair of old system, from what i have read and checked, will be very expensive
thanks

Both Dr. Dons and FCSR call instruct you how to do all the labor. They both had instructions with pictures on the website but removed them due to people actually selling the supposed info on ebay, then sending them the link to their sites if you can believe that. Anyway both of their websites are linked in this thread.

The stock system is not the greatest but it sounds pretty good when everything is working properly. As to the expense, it is really not that bad compared with ripping out the whole system and replacing every component.

Go to <carstereohelp.cpm>. They have instructions for doing everything to check out your system, remove CDM, etc. Their phone # is 800.428.1909. I took out all 4 speakers (the easy part) and the CDM( hard part) and sent everything to them. It all works fine and sounds good but alot of trouble. Biggest problem is if you change systems is that the bose system has individual amps at each speaker. The amps are powered by the interior lamp circuit so it is a little tricky to change the system I would only do it if you get someone who has done it before to help you.

Just remembered there is a lock out code as an anti theft device make sure this is not your problem.

Same happend for me years ago.. Service told me that radio reciver box was broken. Fix would have cost so much that I got whole stereo system changed to new, course I also had those common problems with cd etc.
