I am looking for a single leather seat cover, It must be a 94-95 sport seat. I have found an Upholstery Company that will give us great deals on Custom Interior pieces. I am looking for a seat cover that is worn but still complete.
Here are Dom Custom seat covers.
As soon as I get a swatch book I will add the seat covers to the Registry Store.

Jeff,
They're going to take it apart, like they did mine, to develop the pattern.

So then how much for a set if we provide the 'Pattern'?

Robert, I've got mine boxed up. I'll send them out tomorrow. I would have sent them today but I had to take the foam out. Are they going to provide us with a color chart to use for customization?

Yes, I am hoping to get sample color chips in the next week or so.

It's been a couple years since I priced seat skins but $500 for the pair sounds like a really good price.

I looked at custom seat covers like these and they are in the $1500.00 price range.

Just took my covers to be mounted and should have them in about 10 days. Shop is busy not that the covers are difficult to mount. They did a quick test fit and said everything looked good. They asked where I had gotten them. The shop also said the quality looked pretty good. Waiting on Eckler's to send a replacement seat back. Foam on the first one was pretty flimsy. Upholstery shop said they may increase the amount of foam under the cover and steam the cover to loosen it and then have it tighten up. The OEMs have done this for many years in skinning a seat.
BTW, does anyone have a seat bottom they don't need. I am looking for the clip that holds the bottom to the frame. Need both the wire and the clips.

Dom, I've got two seats I just skinned for this project so yes, I've got seat parts. PM your address and I'll get them to you.
BTW, did you buy all new foam from Ecklers?

Dave,
Thanks. Is the clip for retaining the seat bottom the same for 94 as a 90-93?
Just need the wire clip and the "hinges" that hold it to the frame. I could take a pic if further clarification is needed.
I bought new seat foam for the Driver side and got it from Eckler's. However, the seat back was shipped from Eckler's but the seat bottom had a Corvette America label on it. On the Pass. side, I got an NOS seat bottom from someone. I also got new seat straps from Corvette Central that I am adding to the existing straps, so 4 rather than 2 straps.

Guys,
It looks as if the seat bottom from Corvette America DOES have the clip, so I won't be needing one. Thx for all the stepping up however.

Anytime, Dom.
I'm having a hard time sourcing the seat foam set for the 94 Sport Seats. Anybody have a line on that? Plenty of standard foam sets out there but not the Sport seats.

All the places I know of only sell sport foam with leather

Yeah, that's what I'm coming across. WTH? Pulling the leather off of these 20 year old seats just destroys the foam.

Top quality stuff. Ordered a set for the 65 two weeks ago.
We put a set in the old man's 63 about a year ago and they still look good after being driven 3 miles:)
Bought a LB set for the 94 LT1 car and they were spot on to an original set.

Robert,
One word of caution for 94-95 seats. These seats leather surface is bonded to the foam making skin installation different from 90-93 seats.
I believe this is why most vendors, Ecklers, Corvette Central, Al Koch, etc..., sell 94-95 seats mounted on the foam and not the skin only.

UPDATE:
Al Knoch called me back and told me the 94-96 seat foam is not available without the skins mounted.
Robert - If there isn't a source for this foam there is no need in this guy making patterns for the skin. It is impossible to remove the skins without ruining the foam because of the adhesive.

I can take your seat skin and install it on the 94-96 standard foam and see what it looks like. I am betting that all it needs are two slots created for the seams.
I will also see if Khalid can create the seat foam.
One more interested if the 94-95 seat foam can be made.

So, I talked to Elliot (Production Manager) over at Al Knock Interiors and he explained why he nor anyone else sells just the foam. AKI makes all of their own products and they do it the way GM did it. They don't make the foam and then put the skins on with adhesive. They don't even have a mold for the foam. The skins ARE the mold. They stitch the skins and then spray in the first few inches of foam. That's why it bonds so well. They then make the second part of the foam in a mold and attach it to the first part that's already in the skins.

Did you ask him what he would charge you to have your custom skins done with this process?
And I am guessing that perforated Alcantara or suede is out of the question because of the spray foam.

Yes, I did. He said he can't do that. First, there's no way for him to guarantee someone else's work. If the seat comes out wrong there's going to be instant blame games. Secondly, they already offer custom seat skins with foam so they would be creating competition for their own skins when they don't need to. When asked about Alcantara or suede inserts he said he currently does not offer alternate materials; just leather in different colors. But he can use any material we send him as long as he is the one making the skins. The cost is around $1200 - $1400 a set plus shipping.
So, here's the cost break down.
Custom Skins: $500
New Foam (non Sport): $320
Labor for install: $200 (Estimate)
Total: $1020 for the set.
No brainer. Excellent value. Especially if your foam is good.
For the 94-96 Sport seat it's a little more of a challenge. Turn key from AKI is $1200 - $1400 for everything.
Right now there is no alternative until we can come up with a way to get new foam.

Yep the above is correct and I should have stated so earlier. Jumped the gun on only looking for skins.
Once again as they stated we searched the world over trying to find foam for the seats and discovered the same thing.
We finally ordered a set for the LT1 car and specifically due to the corvette embroidering. No other vendor offered this. We have had several mid-year's redone by AK, and once they were completed and compared to a 15k garage queen. No noticeable difference.
I can sing nothing but praise for this company!
Robert,
Maybe you should call Al up and talk to him personally, he may cut a break for the registry.
He is a super nice gentleman!
Brad
Great idea Brad. I'd like to get my 94 seat's done by Al Knoch at Carlisle.
Robert , hint.?.

Side bolsters are a bit bigger on the Sport seats vs the Standard seats ont he 94-96
I tried installed standard foam/covers on sport seat frames
I have a couple of ideas but need to get my sport frame and standard seats foams out of storage and try, if it works I might be willing to get some done for my car.. If there was a sport seat skin to compare to that will help, but I am not taking mine apart until I have a solution
