Today my 17 year old daughter took it for a spin, and she did great...once she had a seating position that let her see over the cowl! She learned to drive a manual on a BMW M3, which let's face it, is a much easier car to drive. Other than the Z's very forgiving clutch, everything about the ZR-1 is just more...more.

"Dad, this car is cool." :D

My 4 yo little girl is pretty much my garage monkeys and until she's of age to drive it, probably no one else. Unless of course another Z Brother👍

Family and friends can borrow my wife's car, they can borrow my daily driver 4x4 pickup when needed. In the 14 years I have owned the ZR-1 nobody but me has ever driven it. I don't see this changing ever.

My neighbor drove mine (with me in it).

I was surprised to find out he knew what a Z was when he came over one day...

I normally have no problems letting someone drive my cars, provided I'm around. My kids generally do a great job, and my daughter is going to autocross the Z this summer which should be fun.

I've only had two hiccups in many years. I had a JCW Mini for a couple years, and someone jumped in and immediately started powershifting and "catching second." I wasn't happy. Then another friend was driving the Ferrari, which has a dogleg 1st transmission. Well he'd never driven one before and when coasting up to a stop he almost put it in reverse! I caught him in time...whew.

The wife. And me. Don't have a relationship with my daughter - and she can't drive a manual anyway. Son might get to drive it - but he has limited experience with a manual as well and I would have to be with him.
Marc Haibeck drove it once and I wish he would do it again...:o
Other then that I have one friend from grade school that has always been my best friend that I would let drive it...

My cousins daughter just graduated 8th grade at 14. Has restricted drivers license (legal in South Dakota). I may let her drive....... in a year or two :p

My wife Priscilla drives them all but follows too close.....even for my Wilwood C5 Z06 Brake Conversions :D

I only let three people drive my ZR1. Me , Myself and I.
A modded ZR1 is not for the weak hearted.

Im not a seflfish person, but the ZR-1 is MINE! About anything else I will let people use. My GMC Pickup...no problem. Besides, when I tell people that the body panels are NLA they seem to shy away from asking as they do not want to risk it.

only me. Nobody else will drive it. It has good mods and does fly. This was a personal gift to myself so nobody is allowed to drive her...ever. My brother has been a fan of the zr1 for many years..so I might let him just feel that permagrin smile. He has a big block 1973 Corvette and is not foolish so I dont expect any problems. other than him, thats it.

My brother has probably driven mine harder than I have, but then cars are his business. My daughter has put almost 100 miles on it now, and says it's actually easier to drive than she expected. Between the easy clutch and the big engine, it's a just teddy bear off the line to her. Of course I switched the power key to Normal mode, and she hasn't really gotten on it yet. By the time the next autocross rolls around, she'll be ready.

So far my wife and a fellow club member. After his wife got her Z06 to match his and another guy got the blower put on his C5 they all asked me to drive theirs. I offered up mine but only one said he would. I was in it of course!

Both my son and daughter drove the 93 at Road America Touring sessions, split with me so about half a dozen laps each, and my son took it out once when he was home from college for an evening. Both very responsible drivers. (Ironically, daughter is a "save the world" type and doesn't even own a car now!). Also an engineer friend/car guy who helped me instrument the car and had his acoustics guy develop all the info on our resonance issues in the nineties. He had tickets to the Indy 500 one year and another friend was going with him. I suggested they take they Z down from Chicago for the race. They loved it. Also the dad of my son in law who has a membership at VIR. And I have let a number of our members drive it if they wanted info on mods that I have done (like Steve Smith at BG this weekend wondering about a Hurst shifter). --Bob
