For those of you who hate having only one 12V outlet on the center dash, I may have a solution. I have installed a 3 port 12V outlet on the front of the passengers seat.

All you need is the following.

1. A desire....
2. 12V multiport outlet
3. a block of wood 7"x1/4"x1"
4. Self tapping screws
5. Some wiring knowledge.

12V multiport outlet of your choice.

Small piece of wood, paint it black so it is not noticeable.

Attached outlet to wood then wood to front of seat via self tapping screws. Plenty of juice under seat to tie in for 12V.

Much better there than on the knee bolster for several reasons.

Looks good!
Maybe an in-line fuse on the power lead?

Looks like the ticket for someone who does datalogging and needs power for a netbook, altho still need a 120v converter.

On 1991+ cars, there are three wires the GM left in the center console for installing a cell phone and whatnot. I bet one is ground, constant, and switched 12volt. Just another way of getting the same result inside your center console.

I saw a 1980's car cell phone a few months back on craiglist and thought it would be cool to install it in the car. It would be right at home next to my old school radar detector.

I have that connected to my WB O2.

They sell universal laptop power adapters with different plugs, but more importantly, with optional 12v lighter socket inputs rather than 120v ac plugs.

my console 12v is still available. I will keep it available for a WB O2 if I ever get around to that. Seems like the shortest wire run.
