View Full Version : Caffeine & Octane
I took the ZR-1 to the local C&O this morning. It's been a few months since I attended one, and holy crap it has exploded. We got there about 6:30am and we were late...lucky to get a parking spot. The influx continued all the way to 10am when the show ended and people started leaving. There had to be at least 400 cars and 4000 people, just incredible. I was amazed at how many people came up to the ZR-1 and knew exactly what it is, lots of great conversations with a bunch of different folks. We had a great time.
Here's a few shots.
First, getting all cleaned up yesterday.

Scored a great spot between some incredible customs. The Corvette has a built 350 with a 6-speed behind it, and the Camaro...well just take a look. The paint was insane, just an artist's job.

Tons of Corvettes, and just about everything else. Here's just a tiny fraction of the interesting stuff there.

Looks like a great turnout and some really nice cars too. Some other cars of special interest as well. Your Z looks great but i'm kinda partial to the black ones. :)

Personally, I like the one in the cowboy hat the best.

What a great collections of cars in one location, it seems like there was something there for all to enjoy, some very nice looking vehicles. And great weather too.

Wow! Excellent turnout! That black Z looks incredible! Yellow, then Black (or was it the other way around?) are my two favorite colors. (My least favorite is ... RED. Funny how things work out some times. BUT! The RED cars are faster, so there's that!:p)
There was a beautiful 40th ruby car, and an earlier convertible, but that's it for the C4s and I was definitely the only ZR-1 there and I think the only one that had shown up in a long time, if ever. It was just amazing how many people stopped and looked at the engine, and then came up to talk with me. More than I ever had when I brought the Ferrari out. It was just an unbelievable day, absolutely perfect weather, and the crowds were huge. All my pics were taken fairly early, before 8:30. By 9:30 it was hard to take car shots because there were so many people there, just a steady flow.

You have to come up some time, it's just amazing how big it's gotten. There's a significant police presence too, directing traffic and making sure no one gets stupid. Really a well-run event.

Already got one! :D

Thanks! It cleans up pretty well, but parked between those two show cars really pointed out how bad my paint looks. 15 years uncovered in a warehouse didn't do it any favors. This summer my brother and I will be giving it a thorough correction, clean and buff, and touch up some of the bad spots. We'll have it looking like new.

Wow, what a turnout, and such an eclectic mix. I especially like your shots of the panel painted Camaro, the gorgeous white 66'/427, and best of all, the rusty redneck Blazer trying to snuggle up to the little british cutie. That one needs some cartoon thought balloons. :icon_thum
I have to say I LOVED the white C7 with the red interior. Damn I am seriously tempted by that thing, what an incredible car. I wasn't really a fan of the C5 or C6, but the 7 is just amazing in an over-the-top-American-awesome way. That white/red might be my favorite, with a yellow/black right there too. When I retire the Z from daily duty, the C7 will be getting a very careful look.
