won't get to it until next week, flying a trip leaving tomorrow morning. This is going to bother me. dangit. Just a small drip though. Hoping for an oil cooler line or something simple. Fearing a main seal.

First check the oil pan bolts. Very common problem. Mine were only finger tight. You will need to remove the 2 short pieces of the k cross member to get at them but not to bad of a job.

Know the feeling of leaving behind a gnawing, eat at the back of your brain problem. But.....
while traveling you can formulate the "game plan"
1. Jack up car and clean meticulously.
2. if already very clean just inspect for location of drip.
3. Once drip location is found formulate action.
4. is the drip dead center or offset to the passenger side? (oil lines)
5. is the drip off set to the drivers side? (hydraulics - clutch ?)
6. is the drip dead center and signs on the cross member? (oil pan)
One drop over night per drive is enough to isolate.
Less than that? Not so easy.

What they both said. I have a very small drip--maybe a drop every few weeks. Marc said to check the spot and if it is fairly clear oil it is probably from pan bolts or some other common engine leak. If it is inky black, it is probably a rear main seal because when it drips it picks up clutch dust. Mine seems to be the main seal as it is very black but it is so limited I do not worry about it. Marc said it is extremely rare to have a rear main seal fail. -Bob

I just went through an oil leak that was difficult to find. I took the car to a shop and they said they would have to pull the motor to find the leak! I did a little research on Marc's web sight which lead me to checking the oil pressure switch. I removed the electrical connector and oil was leaking into the wire loom and allowed the oil to drip at the front of the engine below the main crank shaft.
Good luck I am sure you will find it.
