View Full Version : Anyone own two C4 ZR-1's?

Blownrunner

I have a red/gray 91'. I was thinking it would be cool to get a second one some day, before the price on them goes up. It would have to be a special ZR-1 though, like a Yellow later model (then I can get custom plates
: ketchup and mustard), or a black widow, Lingenfelter, you get the idea.

How many people own more than one?

Or what else would you buy?

Thought I would make a 'fun thread'.

Two ZR1s (90' and 91') and a 1990 (L98). Bidding on a third ZR1 (1990 low number).....Oh....and a 95' Crate engine

Wanted to experience ALL the ZR1 nuances between years and the LT5 nuances as well by year.

All custom plates (BAD Z, UWONTWN, UL LOSE, maybe FASTRNU).

Oh....Why buy anything else...if you want to have fun turning wrenches....the LT5 is the one.
All parts available including nuts and bolts and we have Jerry's and Carter to make it easy to modify and we have Stainless Works to top it off ;)

We also have photos and links on how to modify :sign10: as in my signature

Why not park your money into something you can have fun with as an investment :p

I think Jim Voters has three ZR1s he can tell you about :handshak:

Didn't Demps have 4 at one time?
Three for sure for a while, Red, White and Blue (all '95's if memory serves me correctly).
Then he bought a Yellow, and a Barney.

Another member had an ungodly number of "take out" and prototype engines for a while.

1993 Quasar Blue/Black ported top end, 4.10:1, Corsa, "QUASARZ"
1994 Yellow/Gray stock, "YELLOWZ"

Dynomite, I had to go check to be sure that Girlfriend was still under her wraps in my garage.
Heck of a deal.
Wasn't there an urban legend about the first 100 Z's being basically hand built with extra care/lovin/power?
And of course, it's red.
Fastest of all the Z's, don'tchaknow.

Congrats!!

Congrats Cliff on the nice snag on #3 for you.
What part of IL did it come from?

BTW the last club news letter #34 Demps (Ted Dempsey) had a great article on his addiction to ZR-1's

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p110/HAMMERHATE/DEMPS_zpsc81933fb.jpg

My Neighbor Phil Grande (who sold me my ZR-1 as well) bought an entire collection at Bloomington Gold several years ago and is sitting on them for now (well as Phil says "For the right price the whole collection is for sale")

Congrats. That car is in the corvette forum for sale . ASking price was low and the car looks good so I hope it works out. I knew about that car for a while and it is 38k miles with tan interior and red exterior. price is very low for this car. Car has no mods so its a clean canvas. Gotta love those 1990's. It's fast too because its red!
Enjoy.:-D

Had bookend 91's for more than 10 years (red/gray & black/black). The red/gray was my first ZR-1. It was not exactly a daily driver but I drove it often. Always thought I would keep both. Things change.

I enjoy more than anyone an

Here is list of those difference beteeen 90' and 91'.
Heads

Plenum
Air horn
Purge connections and location
Chip
In addition 95s and maybe 94' and 93' have EGR.

I have 90' in my shed in SD with top end restoration and Headers/Chip. This 90' was driven to the central valley of CA and now sitting beside the 91' Z and 90' L98 (both with SW Headers and some other stuff) :p

I want to keep this 90' Z stock as much as possible since it is completely stock now and only 38,000 miles

Scott told me the left headlight would not go up.....so I plugged it in.

Did have soft clutch peddle and will replace injectors but that is about it.

This Red/Beige Z is about as mint and Stock as I have ever seen one.

EVERYTHING works....will upgrade radio/CD as standard procedure....Maybe C5-Z06 Wilwood Brakes.....and...OOPS....think I will leave this one stock as hate to modify a ZR1 in such perfect stock condition.

Wheels appear to be "wrong sided" - how's the directional rotation of the tire in relation to the wheel direction?

I know.....I will change that today....good catch.
The tires are new and there IS a bit of unbalance so will get tires balanced at same time....Or....will get wrong sided changed when tires are balanced. Will check directional rotation of tire also.

No shipping costs but rather a direct pick up....and 5 hour trip back home (actually 7 hour trip as got lost in desert of Southern CA).

Over 28 mpg at 73 mph average speed (sixth gear) most of the way

Yep.....now looking for one of these 90's or 91's in this mint low mileage condition that have a blown engine (they can keep the transmission) that someone wants to remove engine and trans for part out and I get what is left for my 95' crate engine :D

Or they sell me the whole car (without engine/transmission) and I remove engine and transmission for them to part out ;)

I have all the parts I need for the time being :sign10:

Yes there IS something special....one of a very very few that has Steel Half-Shafts :D

When I mentioned that in the CF "for sale" thread I was quite confident that they should have been but didn't dispute it when to PO said NOT.

This scenario happened more frequently than one can imagine, a road test by an interested person (wanted the rumored steel) for his car and the car was returned with the aluminum shafts installed. You might be amazed at what is swapped in a "road-test".
