Nice story.....I just purchased a Grand National after being without one for more than five years. That is the only car in a laundry list that I have truly missed.
Their special just like our ZR-1's. Dont let that little v6 fool ya, a good set of champion heads, cam, te67, Mark Jackson Intercooler, Terry houston Downpipe, and an outstanding tune on 25lbs of boost...well you got your hand's full.
Great story and glad your having fun with the ZR-1.....welcome aboard.

The best is when you roll on someone from highway speeds. I had a BMW M6 many years ago learn about the power curve the LT5 has. Needless to say, he wasn't too thrilled with being walked by a seemingly "normal" looking vette.
If they don't know what to look for on these animals...they have no idea!
Welcome!

Great story. The zr1's do look kind of normal if you dont look at the super wide tires and rims in the back.. and in my case, the previous owner installed a roll cage in the back and whomever is behind me will read on the back side of the roll cage.."Let the *** Kicking Commence!! in yellow vinyl letters. The previous owner was a Doctor and he enjoyed modding and running my Vette. I have no tints so you see the bars inside. Enjoy your super nice Z my friend.

Imagine that same surprise felt by dozens of C5/6 drivers when Pete's "C4" lined up against one of their club members' C5s for the first time. In 11.4x seconds there was a collective gasp from the bleachers and someone uttered a "Holy SH*T!", followed by some murmuring.
Then Dominic wasted another C5 and then it was Pete's turn again. Someone said, "Look! Its that ZR-1 again!" and someone else said, "What's a ZR-1?"
Pete ran another 11.4x, beating the other late model "C" driver by almost 2 seconds. "That...IS a ZR-1!" I remember myself blurting out, and I was hooked bad.
I hadn't intended to race my Z, but the adrenalin was pumping and I just had to give it a try...twice...beat 'em both quite handily too, in spite of them both getting the jump on me! That LT5 just reeled 'em in and stuffed 'em; a scene that has become sorta normal for Zs. (Not the best at launching, but eats 'em up on the big end!! If you want to see an analysis of what the Zs did at the 1/2 mile shootout last spring, take a look at the current issue of the HOTB and draw your own conclusions about the relevance these motors have against cars 18+ years younger :))
By the time I returned from my run to park in our "spot" with Pete and Dominic, there was a group of people gathered around Pete and Dominic's cars, open hoods to cool off, and Pete and Dom were giving history lessons to the gathering crowd. That was back in 2008, and my permagrin has never subsided (except after I crashed my baby last spring. (She's on the mend tho!))

If you can get snappics uploaded, shoot your R&P work and post as you go. Nothing better than photo-doc'ed work!
Maybe break up your post into paragraphs a little there too - kinda' tough read when it's strung together - like PW's post 10, and cadillac's, and Z06scentair's - just an idea here. Smart phones are tough posting tho'...
