Checking interest.
I am currently working with a company on high temp stickers that would be used to fill in the "CORVETTE" on the cam covers as well as on the Plenum. The stickers are good to 360 degrees and would take the place of painting.
Let me know if there is interest.
Thanks

Lee:
Do we get a choice of color for the plenum stickers?
I prefer the 4 and the 32 in red and the Cam and Valve in black.
The Corvette on the cam covers in black of course.
Any idea of price?

Not interested.:o (but I can see how others might be).
I struck upon a painting technique that I like very well, giving a true 3D "fill".

The issue of hand painting is the masking; either by brush or especially sprayed. The "trick" is to hand brush the bottom and sides WITHOUT MASKING, and then "trimming" the letters with a Q-tip dampened with acetone (fingernail polish remover) as much as necessary to trace the lettering, leaving a perfectly clean "cut" lettering. Easy-pleasy!
That said, for those not so inclined, a glue-in decal might be just the ticket!
Your mileage may vary.

that is one nice engine detail. I live in homestead florida, 30 mins south of miami and I dont know of anyone who would do this kind of work. I would be happy just to have someone take off the plenum and cam covers so I can send them out. My closest pro is in south georgia, aaron scott. I dont have the tools, experience or space to do this myself. I will look around and see what I find. I envy those of you who do such beautiful work. Congrats. ed ramos #3028

I think that would be awesome. If it's available in different colors I'm definitely interested. Only if you make one for the emblem spots too though :)

Lee,
You can count me in. Red for the numbers and black for everything else would be slick.
Keep us posted on the progress.
Thanks,
Charles

That sounds like a good idea. I wonder how difficult they would be to apply?
Happy New Year!

Lee, Speaking of Cam Cover Emblems do you have a set for the 90?

If you look at the close-up detail in Paul's pix, the cast groove of the lettering isn't perfectly smooth, therefore if you apply a cut vinyl, (or whatever material), into it the edge of the letter it would distort, wouldn't it? Would it be cut to cover the bottom of the groove, or fill the sides too? Then you've also got the problem of the vinyl folding and distorting if it's meant to fill both the bottom and the sides of the groove.
Of course, paint doesn't have this problem, it just flows into the groove. And you trim the edges, as Paul did.
What if you designed it the opposite way. A stick-on vinyl stencil, that you could carefully apply to the head. Then brush, or spray in the lettering, peel the stencil, and get the sharp edged lettering you desire.
Or, take it to your local Pin-Striper. Those guys have the brushes, paint, and steady hand that the rest of us don't.
Just some thoughts....... someone stop me before I have another cup of coffee!

Bob I have done a lot of these, the issue is sometimes the paint can ruin good powdercoat, so I am looking at alternatives. There is aleady a car with the same setup as ours that has been done, cast aluminum, etc even 32V

Cam cover emblems are available, why not get them?
The PO said he had them and would give them to me when I bought the car. Then it turned to i have to look for them and then to no reply to pms or text messages. It just made it harder to buy a pair when I was under the impression I would get them.
Filling the sides is a non issue. If they fit the bottom and are 3d/a little raised they will look great. If anything the sides will reflect a little making them look more 3D. I figured having a matching emblem would look great but that probably wouldn't happen.
Maybe Jerry would sympathize with my sob story and give me a deal for emblems lol. I'll most likely end up doing something custom with cf to fill my emblem spots.
