It’s time to bow out.
I’ve been a member of the ZR-1 community for 17yrs through the various name changes of the club dating back to “Larry”.
I’d like to think in those 17 yrs I’ve had an overall positive impact on the preservation of the ZR-1 buy helping others through issues with the car. I’ve attended 4 gatherings in Bowling Green and met many notables ZR-1 figures.

I was going to just silently fade away but at the urging of others I’ve decided to explain why I will not be renewing my membership.

It comes down to this.
What is the role of a “moderator”?
To my way of thinking it’s to moderate. The #1 definition is:
“make or become less extreme, intense, rigorous, or violent.”

Back a few months on a thread in the forum I was attacked and humiliated by a moderator for something that happened on a completely different online forum. Not only was this outrageously WRONG for a moderator to do but in substance wrong also. (the mentioned topic resolution on that forum went in my favor). At that time I raised the issue to the president. I was told by the president that I had been “condescending” in the past to him consequently nothing happened to correct the current issue. No “moderating” of the moderator involved happened.

So, given this behavior and lack of corrective and apologetic follow-up I’ve decide to first “go dark” for months so as to be able to think it through. Then after these several months now I’ve decided to stay off the forum and to not renew membership. Like others in recent past (board membership mass exoduses) I’ve decided to stand-bye for a leadership change and some sort of moderation of the moderators when needed. In the mean time there are several C4 Facebook groups that I frequent and of course other ZR-1 forums from time to time.

As an aside, there are those that throw around terms such as “condescending” but don’t fully know the meaning of the term. To disagree does not equate to condescension. It reminds me of a movie, “Princess Bride” where the guy refers to many things as “inconceivable” but in fact things were only inconceivable to him.

Am I a perfectly well behaved member? Not always.
But then I'm not a moderator so.......

See y'all around.

You may not agree with others, and others may not agree with you, but your still a valuable asset to the club. In a club with alot members there will always be conflicts of personalities. I can understand not renewing, but hopefully you won't stay off the forum. I always found your input helpful.

Sorry to see you go Scott. I was wondering where you went. I thought you added much to discussions and while I believe that different folks view points don't always agree on the same topic or subject it can add to discussion value. I don't take anything on these forums as personal. I for one will miss your insight concerning our Z cars.

Sorry to hear about this decision Scott. Perhaps after some time you might even return to the forum again someday I hope.

Scott, I am also sorry to hear of your decision. I would hope that perhaps after some reflection you will eventually join again, or at the least contribute on the forum from time to time. You contributions have always been knowledgable, helpful and interesting. I would also hope that whatever may have occurred with a moderator would generate some form of apology and reconciliation. We are a small enough group already and need to hold the group together.

Like Scott I also have been involved with this club and forum in one way or another since 1994 (back to "Larry" as mentioned by Scott, who first asked me to join). I have many friends here and have been disappointed by some of the infighting of the last year. But I have never been attacked personally by anyone so I am still here. Still, I have been on the C7 forum of late and noticed a number of posts praising the group as generally being pleasant and cordial with each other as opposed to some of the other forums noted as rife with backbiting. I hope they are not referring to us.

I for one will miss your contributions and hope you stay in touch. --Bob
