Registry has backed alot of ZR-1 racing efforts years ago, I think we should build a car to take to these one mile acceleration runs that wipes the floor with the others. Maybe an NA version and a TT version.....
Lets shake things up alittle with the Corvette Crowd!
Was it over when the Germans bombed pearl harbor?
Who is with me.....
What better way to educate others about the LT-5 :)
Maybe a Mr. Ken Lingenfelter in IN would let the monsters out for a good showing!

Link??? wasssthat? I thought it only came in patties. I do know what a line is though!
So.... Why are you just going after the "Corvette Crowd? After all, they are family you know. Let's go after Ford while we're scheming here. Lesee.... 305+ oughta mess em up a bit.
Probably going to need a solid billet block, some 300# valve springs, a turbo feeding about 15 psi to a custom centrifugal supercharger for a final of about 35 psi boost plus a 150 shot of NO to keep it a little bit cool.
Let's add that up.
Base engine Hp @ 1 Bar (14.65psia) = 400hp
35 psig boost = 937hp
150 shot NO = 150hp
Grand total Hp (WAG) =1,497hp
We could ask Dynomite to calculate the acceleration and final Hp to push air with a C4.
Where's FastLane when you need him?
Kevin, I think I'm gonna go roll another.:proud:

look at Nelson Racing Engines. they will build a quad cam engine using a billet polished block to any size you like and then twin turbo it...horsepower.. 2500. this guy is an animal when it comes to engine building. engines up to 500 cubic inches. talk about a zr1.. this also trumps the mercury marine 1600 hp engine. 2500 hp is outrageous.. pro mod style. probably too much horsepower. I thing 1600 is just about right with nascar tires. bet that car hits 220+ in texas mile. top speed.. 260+ if sledgehammer hit 254 with 900 hp. why not 260+ with 1600 hp. If you are going for the gusto, then go for it! edramos #3028:cheers:

Because it fun to have reserve power on tap...and... their are events where you can use it all.

High hoursepower and torque is fine, but you have to build the drivetrain to match it.
Then you have to get it to the ground with out going up in smoke.
You also have to decide what kind of speed runs or racing you are going to do; some have restrictions for power and other modifications.

OP let me know if you don't want this stuff on your thread.
Why? Because I can! AND I think it's cool. Actually has more to do with wa BANG...
Drivers? Already have a silver state/various unlimited type mile driver lined up. As for me, would need lots of driver mods prior to being ready, already been sideways at near triple digits on everyone's fave 190 in tx.
I'm currently topping out @ 550+ RWHP and that's with a very cautious right foot. More than enough for my current skill!
Waaabang? Was that a party in my pants bang? or something else:) No problem, I get what your saying. BUT without those pople willing to go bang, we're would we be?
I acutally got to this point with spirted driving past a camero who made one of those- I'll go by you at a hundred mile an hour pass(s) thinking I owned you-thankfully he was made to understand his miscomprehension of reality, prior to the boom!
Upon said BOOM, I did consider the Nelson engine but got distracted with another Z, then by the time I reconsidered it, had already got a smoking deal on a 4 bolt Block, purposed custom pistons and all the things which connect the pistons to the crank, etc etc.
BigJohn- You're exactly right, but where's the fun if you don't break something. I appreciate any thoughts you or others might have towards the remainder of the drive-train. Here's what I'm thinking:
By the way depending how much I actually want that Nelson block (ha ha) it will be 1000 RWHP-no nitrous, if not maybe 850-900 still without nitrous ;)
1) Roll cage with engine compartment strut support
2) Coil overs
3) I have a new trans which I'm thinking of sending to automasters but could use some ideas on clutches
4) Rear end? I like big gears but will depend on what kinda fun we'll be having prior to just having a street car.
Had meant for this car to be done early '14 but got deployed and went with coil overs/roll bar/electronic cutouts/brakes etc. on the other car to get used to them...

Take your time and enjoy the power!
It realy sucks to break above 200 mph!
Oh, I not like Nitrous!!!
A friend split his 5.0 right down the middle on nitrous; got 9.6 "1/4 mile".
