All up to your ears, but corsa is quiet, flows good, no drone & loud at full throttle

flowmasters for me. My z even sounds more than the video since I have headers and no cats. I got flowmaster resonator so I have no drone but great sound all the time, going slow or stepping on it. edramos #3028

Me,either. They are too high-pitched for my tastes.

Either Flowmasters or B&B's with headers are what I prefer.

My former Callaway with the centermount Speedster exhaust system sounded pretty wicked, though. You could pick that car's sound out of a pack of ZR-1's.

Sound is a very subjective thing, though. Different strokes for different folks.

Yes it is. I listened to all of them and I liked the Corsa best by far. But then I love high-pitched screamers.

Do the B&B drone?

Amazingly even w a resonator in place. If you really are interested in a nice mellow sound at cruise and not concerned too much w ultimate power, I really liked the MagnaFlow cat back on my ZR. Aside from a chincy hanger, they were well made, looked really good with 4" polished tips and had 3" SS pipe that I still have on my BRose. Not as expensive as the Corsa or B+B which I switched out of. So just another alternative to think about.

Does a bear **** in the wood's ? :-D:-D:-D

If your going with an older B&B (good) and not the newer B&B (bad) Just put a set of flapper's on them and they will be fine. With the 385 your going to need a good exhaust. As far as sound..... This is one of the more difficult decisions, everyones opinion will differ.

juat to add something different to the mix I have 21/2 in dr gas with spin tec on my black 90 . and 3 in with x pipe and 3 in super turbos on my white callaway 92 . there are videos on u tube of both . the 92 is pretty quiet at cruise but loud as heck at wide open . the spin tec make the car almost sound like a European twin cam v8.the cost of the dr gas was 800 and the 3in on the 92 600. sorry don't know how to do the link deal. but the title of the videos are Bradley taylors 1990 zr1 runs 12.10 @119 and corvette c4zr1 vs porsche 911carrera 997s @ auto club dragway. by the way the Porsche was supercharged .lol. he beat me out of the gate but I caught and passed him at the 1100 ft mark.dont mind the music my buddy has a fun/sick sence of humor

Awesome info fellows, I have the Corsa now and always like the B&B on the LS version motors.

I have Corsa on the escalade truck and it sounds great.......not so fond of the sound on the ZR-1.

My car has stock manifolds and it seems just a little too quiet for me, even at WOT!

Here's an example of the Magnaflow. You can hear what its like inside the cabin.

Then the Z06/DynoMax with Xpipe and no resonator

The Magnaflow was stock cams but ported Top End. 400RWHP. Z06 tips are in use w intake/exhaust cams and ported heads. 454 RWHP.

I have the B&B with a 3" stainless steel x-pipe. It sound good. The drone in my opinion is minimal. I can have a conversation on my cell phone using my ear piece with no problem.

I am looking forward to installing my headers next!

Gone back and forth with four different exhaust variations:

B&B with 3" x-pipe
2.5" Corsa
stock with 2.5" x-pipe
Stainless Works 3" system w 3" x-pipe

The B&B and the SW systems obviously made the most power, but were both intolerable for any hope of use at daily driving.

The Corsa was loud outside of the car, but did not drone at the usual resonant frequencies that vibrate the rear hatch area.

Stock sans resonator (x-piped) was pretty good, but it was giving up 10-15 hp up top. Even with headers and no catalysts, the stock system makes less hp than with the SW with cats (LS7 units I had fitted).

My current (and probably final) configuration uses both the LS7 cats and the Z06 exhaust flappers to force the muffler to single outlet during light load conditions. This greatly reduces drone (although a small amount still occurs in 6th gear). A quieter muffler design would help, but it is still way quieter over the unmodified SW muffler.

the super turbos 3in with dual outlets give a nice quiet cruise on my 92 and it doesn't have cats .

As many of you know I went through about 5 or 6 systems with my 93 and settled on Corsa as the best for limited drone and best power. When I got my 95 I immediately had Marc install a Corsa (picked up a used one) when he had it for service. But after a year I decided that in my old age I was simply getting tired of the loud exhaust. So I switched back to a stock system with the electric QTP cutouts. So far I very much like this set up. Closed the system is a quiet stock one but when I want to go racing or just scare children I can open it up to full open pipes (headers and no cats). Or somewhere in between for just some added rumble. The latter is the way I have driven it mostly. You lose the spare tire carrier in the process but I am OK with that. Carry the spare if I am going far from home. --Bob
