I guess I just assumed we all drove our LT5s "to the limit" on a regular basis. But, apparently not. Curious to see how many regularly HAMMER their LT5s "let it all hang out" (Warriors) and how many baby them (Waxers).

Just for fun.

Post up your fun experiences!

SOMETHING GLITCHED. SEE THE OTHER WAXER/WARRIOR POLL

My WARRIOR story

The garage door opens, I turn the key to run, the fuel pump primes with a whine then stops, I continue to turn until the starter engages and the LT5 catches a fire and begins to purrr on fast idle. I click 1st and roll her slowly out onto the tarmac. I hit the button the, the garage door closes. I light a smoke, and inhale deeply. I prepare for the fun I am about to experience. The smell of Sunoco 94 whafts by my nose, the smell excites me. Thoughts of g forces and guttural exhaust sounds fill my head as I enjoy the moment. I flick my smoke, finally the oil pressure gauge shows me that the viscosity has dropped, and I give the accelerator a quick jab, the V8 exhaust note excites my senses. I scan the gauges coolant/oil is warm. I click 1st and grab some revs and find a slow cruise down the driveway and onto the street, I cruise at 3000rpm for the mile down to the corner and come to a stop. I glace left, then right, not a human in sight, I get another whaft of Sunoco 94 and what it smells like after its been compressed and ignited. Does life get any better?
My pulse quickens in anticipation, the melody of the Chevrolet engine is music in my ears,..... in my soul.
I snatch 1st gear and make a right, I let off the throttle and idle along in 1st gear contemplating the ferociousness I am about to unleash. I adjust my grip, and then stab the throttle, the rears instantly erupt into smoke, the tail sways to the right. The tach reaches 5000, then 5500, then 6000, then, BWAG-BWAH-BWAH as the engine pounds off of the rev limiter. I let off the throttle, the throttle lets me off.

Suddenly the reality of my situation life rushes in, it is as serious as a heart attack. My rev limit was 6000rpm, not 7200, "Crap I am in my daily driver".
Rear drive-yes,
V8-yes,
pushrods-Yes,
LT5-No, certainly not a ZR-1. The disappointment floods my being, I drive away, looking in my rearview mirror. At least the cloud of tire smoke was real.

One day my friend, one day............................we WILL be together.

P.S. I remember that song from the movie "Scarface" that was playing during the scene that was illustrating Tony Montana's increasingly successful import business. There are money counting machines, they show Tony getting married, Tony's Sister opening her hair salon. All while this song was playing. It was q 1983 sountrack release.

Lyrics

Push it to the limit
Walk along the razor's edge
but don't look down, just keep your head
and you'll be finished

Open up the limit
past the point of no return
You've reached the top but still you gotta learn
how to keep it

Hit the wheel and double mistakes
throttle wide open like a bat out of hell
and you crash the gates
(crash the gates)

Going for the back of beyond
Nothing gonna stop you
there's nothing that strong .
So close now you're nearly at the brink
so, push it

Something I've been proud of as an enthusiast. Love to detail my car myself and turn the wrenches and I hammer the car when opportunity arises ! I'll run anyone if circumstances permit but then again I normally take the car out at night till 5am when the roads are clear.
