I just got the build sheet and window sticker from the NCM. Standard stuff, until I noticed who the car was charged to and where it was shipped.

The Carfax only goes back to 1994 where it was registered to an owner in Colorado.

Let me see what you guys make of this......

The build sheet shows it was charged and shipped to Joe Smalley Chevrolet in MA, but these were striked through and, in hand, it was written that the car ships to the Mesa Proving Grounds in Mesa, AZ.

The window sticker says:
Dealer to whom delivered is Chevrolet - Los Angeles Branch
Delivered to dealer at" Mesa, AZ.

There was a separate sheet, I assume made by the museum that breaks down total production numbers and at the bottom it shows:
Charge to Chevrolet - Los Angeles Branch
Car was built for a particular person or purpose and delivered to Mesa, AZ.

Any ideas? And sorry...photobucket was being a pain and wouldn't rotate the images.

Congratulations on a unique Z that GM likely used for performance and durability testing at their proving grounds. Great to see another rare Steel Blue Z on ZR-1 Net!

I sent you a PM. I have not found any additional information on my car and its service at the Mesa, Arizona Proving Grounds and I have been able to talk to people that were there.

Thanks, Joe. Hopefully we can come up with more info.

I know on the older Vettes, a build sheet showing delivery to Zone 00 and a dealer number denoting a proving grounds car adds provenance. It'd be very cool to find out if John Heinricy if he recalls anything.

It's fun and interesting to find out that there's something interesting in a car's past.
