Hi, my new to me car does not have a short throw shifter. What was the nicest one made & is it still available? Or, what's the best one available now? Thanks Brothers! Tim

I had Wazoo put in a Hurst which you can get off the internet for about $150 or so. Bill Boudreau also has an excellent short shifter and you can find it at billb@zfdoc.com or call Bill Boudreau at (602) 319-6575 .

Two great choices in MHO.

I agree with Charlie. I have a Hurst and had one on the 93 for most of its life. I like them although they are a little more clunky than the stock shifter due to the lack of a rubber bushing somewhere. Marc H may have one or two Hursts left and they are available on the internet. Bill B also makes a great shifter I am told although I have not tried his. --Bob

I had Bill Boudreau modify my stock shifter, significant improvement over OE.

I tried bradley's shifter once and I have a Hurst. The Hurst is direct, but I liked brad's Boudreau shifter better.

That said, with my blueprinted 2nd and 3rd gear sychros on Bill's rebuild plus the hurst, I have had reactions of sheer amazement from other people who I have let try it out. They can hardly believe a short shifter actually can work on a ZF without being all stiff and hard to get into the lower gears.

Does Bills have a crash though reverse for a 90?
Thoughts on a crash through versus lift ring?

Mine's a lift-ring. I would have preferred a crash-through but forgot to discuss that detail with Bill. That said, is it really possible to change from lift-ring to crash-through just by changing the shift lever? Seems to me that functionality must be deeper down in the transmission. ?????

Yes it is. My 94 had the stock, lift ring shifter & the Hurst does not. I find the lift ring to be more of a nuisance than a benefit anyway. Who speed shifts or misses 6th gear?

My thoughts exactly Jerry, but I don't see one for a 90 without the lift ring. Did the 94's come with the same lift ring as my 90?

The crash-thru doesn't have anything to do with the shifter itself... the detent pad and shift rod are different if I recall what i saw when it was explained to me. On mine, I had to pay extra to swap the 95-up ZF parts during the rebuild. I decided to do it because I didn't have the lock-out ring for use with my stock shifter. and I was used to it because my C4 previous to this one was a 95 and i liked the heavy detent.
