Need some advice. I'm considering a change of wheels on the '92 I'm planning to buy. On my previous Camaro SS I ran Fikse wheels and where very pleased with those.

What is your thougt about Fikse's FM5:s on the ZR-1? (Yeah, yeah, I know it's a matter of taste, but you guys probably have screened all Z:s on the net and in real life so I might just lean on your expereince a bit).

Second Q: what finish to a black Z? Here's the full polish finish which I kind of like.

Hi ITLGO2,

I agree, the TTII is sweet looking and the chrome finish is superb with a black car. I can understand that you get a lot of    .

I visited both American Racing and American Eagle (which BTW I have on my Tahoe, series 058), but couldn't find quite the clean design of the FM5. I'll see what else might come up here, or I'll just have to raise the funding 4 the Fikses.

But then again - the Fikse Aro has a very nice race-look to it. Something that might be worthy of the Beast. Anybody seen anything like it on a ZR-1?

Thank's guys. Those FM5:s really look nice.

ITLGO2, could you be a litle more specific (me being a rookie here) about this "widow maker". I suppose everyone but me knows who that is.
I tried google but didn't get any good hits. Pics or a link would be very much appreciated.

Hi Pete,

My two cents......chrome looks the best against a black Z!....but I'm biased!
I think the FM5's look best as high polish on a black car...but the Aro's would be "great different" on a Z.

Only thing I can add about the chrome is that they are a major PIA to keep up with if you use the car alot. Maybe the high polish alum. would be better in that instance. I have chrome fake A-Molds on my black 90, and after seeing Keith's TTII's I'm envious:worship:

JMHO:mrgreen:

Hi Tom.

And by "great different" I suppose you mean the Aro's are too far from original and not recommended?

Hi Peter,

No I actually like the Aro's. If I had the kind of coin that Fisk's require I like those better than my fake A-molds!

I think that the Aro's with the highest polish or a chrome plate job would be the cat's a$$ on a black ZR-1! Can you say Darth Vader vette!:sign10:

Ok, I like that answer. And it's not like I'm loaded with $$$, but it's a matter of priorities. Guess we'll have to wait somewhat with the new washing machine. :dancing

Getting second thougts after recieving the figures from Fikse. Would cost around 5.200 (shipping, VAT and customs included). That's a bit too much I think. :(

Hey Pete that is some price tag! Man that's a lot of coin but they sure are purdy wheels! Quasar's suggestion is a bit more to my liking. I never thought to look at CCW. Nice stuff for sure!

 Oh, congrats on the purchase!

Hi Tom.

Thank's. Right now my brain has gone into some kind of a spinn.

On one hand I think: The money for the Aro:s are ridiculous. I'll just stick with the original wheels and that's it.

On the other hand I think: But this is the car of my lifetime. And I think the Aro wheels would be perfect. I'll allways yearn for them if I don't get them, which will ruin some of the fun with the ZR-1. Besides, in a couple of years those money would be spent on god knows what anyway.

(And I did a slight miscalculation on the prize: it's 4.700 USD.)

I feel like a complete jerk. We'll see what it ends up to.

Hey Peter, congrats on the ride!

Wheels are expensive for sure, but if you can get a deal on them hopefully you can use the extra $$$$ for porting & polishing, headers, gears, etc.....the list goes on and on. Good luck!

Hi Peter,

Here's what I think about this wheel thing. Ya get what ya pay for!;) I have a black Z so I wanted some chrome to set the car off. I liked the A-mold style so I bought some 'budget minded' replicas....less than a thousand US $. They are okay with the build quality but....well I got what I paid for & in a few yrs I think I will have to get the chrome re-done correctly or toss them. Moral of the story....I think I should have looked to a higher quality builder.

I think you should just get your car delivered and sort it out if it needs anything and then if you run out of pressing issues save up for the quality wheels that you absolutely love. I did mine the other way around, kind of. My car came with the OEM rubber and that was the most pressing need so I figured 'need new shoes, might as well get some chrome wheels also!'. By going that route I spent on the rubber and cheaped out on the wheel.:o

Good luck & enjoy your new toy!
