NO gouges nor cracks and the lands where the bolts seat are not cracked nor crushed in........put yourself in my place and would you buy them. That is an indicator of great shape.

Have the UPS store pack it and insure it if it breaks its on them. That cost is past onto your buyer. Just an idea. GC

I tried that already at one of their stores. They won't do it because the top doesn't fit in any of their "standard" boxes (the largest one they have is a bicycle box), which means they can't pack it and won't insure it. You can pack it yourself but they won't insure it. I remember someone said he built a custom wood crate to ship tops or windshields? Not sure who he used to deliver.

Did that once. It showed up broken, the buyer called the ups store and the A-hole that packed it/owned the place told the customer I packed it.

I had a Melrose box that I used I think 4 times to ship a top and part of the sale was that the top be returned. The fifth sale was going to the left coast and the return of the empty box was a little more than I had anticipated and I just let it go with the sale. I had "no issues" with any top I shipped. I've sent one other top and it "arrived alive" also. The Melrose packaging isn't hard to duplicate.

I've always used FEDEX and only once I had to open a box for their inspection before they would apply the amount of insurance that I requested. I don't use UPS for anything of value. Yes there's problems with all of them and this isn't the time of year to be considering the ship of valuables or anything of value.

There's no easy "battle" to win when UPS is involved. There's a post on the CF that involved a top and the shipper was several months getting a resolution. I believe they actually trashed his broken top. It was a pack and ship also. I had a differential claim with UPS and was best I recall better than 6 months getting resolved and paid. That was my last UPS "ship" of valuables.

I've had two issues with deliveries of UPS packages - one I found in the middle of the yard. Several months later another and the shipper replaced the order no questions asked. 90 days or so later UPS wanted to investigate and after a conversation they said they could check the package by GPS and it was delivered and they pinpointed the drop spot. It was a very light piece of software, less than I'm sure 6 - 8 ounces and I'm sure it blew away. It was well beyond "breezy". I had checked the yard and a couple adjacent properties before calling the vendor. I asked the gal "you can confirm the drop" -she said "yes"! I had the original box from the "middle of the yard incident" and gave her the package tracking. The scan was done nowhere near my house. She didn't say how many feet but it wasn't at my door-step. Theirs and I'm sure others are very sophisticated tracking.

The package was about this time of year and I arrived home from work way past darkness every weekday from my work. I looked out the window on a Saturday morning and spotted the box while talking on the phone. Tracking said it had been there a couple of days. It was a CF buy and I had no idea of when to expect it.

Melrose has a special heavy duty box with a sort of framework cardboard skeleton top holder which adds both strength and provides a gap to allow the corners and ends of the outer box to crush and never touch the top. I have considered buying just the box from that guy as i had an $800 misadventure with a C6 top that got hammered when it knife-edged right through the end of a box that the seller thought was going to work out.

The seller was a lawyer in Texas and convinced FedEx to pay the insurance.

I was refering to the "LIE" aspect by the UPS Pack and ship story. Dont get me wrong I dont trust either UPS or FEDEX however, they are your only option sometimes or large heavy items like tires. I have great success with the USPS.

Ok here is what I've learned about parting out two of these at the same time or anymore period.

I am 99.9% sure I ain't doin' this again.

All ZR1 owners owe me 10 bucks for making their cars more rare and valuable.

I am not removing heads again, if someone wants the heads they can do the work, removing the timing set up and packaging of the remaining block, AFTER paying me. So 4k for Block heads and timing gear.

1,900 for a block with crank, and pistons/rods. Hehe I said 'Rods'.

Everyone wants something relatively cheap that requires 10 hours of work, and incapacitates the car.

I am Jerry's B*%ch.

There is no Santa Claus

The Fed ex guy thinks it's hilarious as he blows by me trying to flag him down, He waves back while laughing and trying to break his time record through the parking lot.

This was too hard to take on in a new unknown area (there is like no newspaper for packing here) with no large vehicle to get/drop off stuff. A bicycle, Harley and Lowly LT1 Vette are just not sufficient.

I am too far now From Brett to come visit and give me money.

Gold Cylon would probably be cool to have a beer with.

In regards to shipping the top, TCurtner shipped one to me in March. He wrapped it in bubble wrap, supported it with closed cell foam, and used two overlapping guitar boxes. The top was perfect on arrival. :) Hard to say it was overkill, maybe just enough. I also arranged to pick it up at the UPS store close to home because I didn't want it delivered when no one was home. Can't be too careful.

No more interest? I'm surprised there are not more South Floridians that need stuff. Back in VA the Wazoo would have held a Kegger at my house by now.

Take some photos of what is left. I am sure someone will still buy parts.
Do both cars still have the Dana 44? Shoot me an Email with a price and we might be able to work something out.

Selling the rear suspensions 1,500 a piece. Most stuff that fit are already in boxes with the 90 still 3/4 complete as I don't want a ton of clutter in there during my inspections, whenever that goes down.

Thats cuz both cars should have been black tags, and turns out the 92 had a blue, so I have not been under the 90 yet.

What is the difference between the trans with black id plate or blue? Thanks.

A black tag is an earlier 89-93 Unit, It was made in Germany, and has thicker gears so overall stronger, but noisier.

A Blue Tag 94-96 was Built in America and runs quieter.

Either trans will work in any year.

Under the console lid there are two indentions, one for an ash tray and the other is a molded rubber insert for a drink can. I need the molded rubber. Have one?

The ones they sell are for a regular vette, the one for a zr-1 dosent have the pig tail, the wiring harness plugs directly into the switch.

None of the OEM/GM switches had the pig-tail but it works for and is a service part for all. In all likely hood you don't need a switch. Remove yours and clean/soak the detent ball and you should be all set. Now if it's leaking through the switch connector that's a different issue.

Y-me removes the switch he's now created a "leaker" and an "incomplete" ZF. I wouldn't think he's interested in a sale of it.

It's been cleaned and soaked the detent ball has been worked and there is no leak, but it still doesnt work.Guess I'll have to use the replacement.

Have to look at what I have when I get back, and conditions. front lenses never happen as I sell them with the entire bumper and you have to completely disassemble the assembly to replace them. As for "perfect condition" these cars were parted out for a reason, it's not like I'm parting NCRS candidates

Understood, but worth a try right? Also while going over the car, I noticed I am missing a piece of trim on the targa top. It is the small piece of trim on the rear passenger side that goes from the corner where the attachment point is to behind the passengers head. Let me know if you can help with this, but I assume this usually gets sold with the top.

A lot of the small parts are common C4 parts. Hope you find what you need, some time tracking down all the small stuff just takes time.

Lantana you may have tried this already - but look for the stuff you mentioned on Corvette Central, Corvette America, Mid America Motorsports, etc. I have found even some small "hard to find" interior parts at CC.
