While my car is being DEWINGED next week im finally getting my AO Engineering Forced Air front license plate louver painted as well.

I followed the AO Forced Engineering instuctions for mounting the front plate and I have to tell you the template for the plate in the instructions cutout is entirely too small. There is no way in Hades that the plate will fit in if you follow the template only.

I could not figure out the disconnect however the bumper must be considerably cut more to allow the plate molded bosses on the back side of the plate to pass. Also boy is that styrofoam "FUN" to get out of there. Yikes.

As you all know the rest of the system is crap however I like the look of that front plate in the nose. My android phone is dead along with my digital camera. I will take a few pics with my Ipad when I have time over the weekend. GC

Daryl, have it plastic welded. Don't use the Fusor repair as the basis for structure. Plastic weld and then a light coat of filler and then sand.

I think hes using the plastic weld for the eurthene and normal stuff for the fiberglass. D

That will work fine. If he does a good job welding, the filler will be very minimal.

If he is pulling the rear bumper have him bound composite under the holes than weld the holes, it will make the joints stronger as they will have two contact points.

On that "forced air" plate up front. I didn't like the lettering on mine, so dremeled it off. Then filled the unsightly gaps where the plastic vanes meet the housing with JB weld, then sanded and finished the whole thing.
I don't have pic at the moment, but after a decade or so the JB weld is still smooth and uncracked. Looks good.
BTW, nice white Z, (and co-pilot), thumbs up on those wheels.

I think when I measured my forced air hole it was 5 1/2 dia.

You mean the "Forced Air" lettering? Mine is lettered ZR-1 lettering I kinda like it. The smooth area is nice idea as well.

Yes my Co-pilot has been there for 27 years hopefully shes not going anywhere soon too lol

Yes.

One thing that didn't hold up is the paint. It's gone slightly yellow over the years. For small jobs like this, who makes the best rattle can paint available for the Arctic White on the ZR-1?

I didn't clear coat it after painting. Maybe that's why it didn't last.

I do not know. Clear coat is a key however dont feel bab Bob Ive seen bad clearcoat yellow over the years as well. last thing I tried was the Dupli color is worked fairly good.

Did you rattle can the bumper interior so the white sytrofoam was hidden im shooting mine black inside.

It's been a while, I think maybe 15 years, but I don't remember encountering any styrofoam in there. Just punched through that area with a hole saw. I think I saved the fiberglass pieces that I cut out though.

Hello,
Would it be possible to post pictures of where the round duct passes through the bumper reinforcement in front of the air cleaner (inside of the engine compartment)? I have one of those kits and want to see how much cutting is involved. Thanks in advance.

No I dont use the duct the best part of this kit is the diffuser plate. Do you not have the instuctions? I could email you a copy if you dont have them. The cutting of the rear supprt from is for the MY90 only so all you will need to do is remove the sytrofoam from the backside of the bumper

Hello,
I am waiting for the kit to arrive, I should have it on Monday. Hopefully the directions come with it. I will let you know. Thank you for the offer and thanks for the response. As usual, this forum is so helpful!
