Hey guys,
Thought I would let you all know that an old high shool buddy of mine just got a Callaway 500 TT delivered last night. We are headed to the drag strip today and were gonna thrash on 'em. This should be a neat thing. According to the article King vs. Kong (early 90's) the cars were neck and neck in the 1/4. Both ran 13.4's with the Z having a 1 mph higher trap speed. I'll post tommorrow when it's all done.

Yes, it is the Dark Red one that was at CM's for awhile. We got to the track and just as we turned the corner to the entry the Callaway started running like crap. Through the evening (borrowing tools) we were able to determine that the alternator had taken a crap. It hasn't been driven hardly at all since my friend got it and we are pretty sure it was put on the trailer for delivery that way. So, we weren't able to run last night. We will however have the thing running again for another try on October 7th. This realy sucked, we wanted to do this pretty bad, but the upside is only an alternator needs replaced and the Callaway will be OK. Sorry, I was hoping to tell everyone that I spanked him. my car ran the best MPH so far, 13.71 @ 108.3. Ted had his blue car out there too. That runs well, I think he ran a 12.8 @ 113.
I think I need to mod mine now. Chip, Corsas, MAT Relocater, Shifter (on the workbench) porting the plenum and injector housings ???
Here's a good one, I had a fella talking to me about my car and told me his uncle had been looking for a ZR-1, he said his dad had one and hit a wall in it at 180 mph .... He also was insistant that they only made 250 of these cars. I told him they made 3049 in '90, he then told me "his dad's was a special one". He asked how much for mine, I told him $30k. He said, "That's all" and his uncle would give me a call today. If this happens (ain't holding my breath) :sign10: , I'll be looking for another car soon.

You and me both, brother. I have to wait until our int'l adoption is over with, so probably not for another year at least....oh well.
Sorry to hear you couldn't run the cally, good luck when you do.

I would guess with a 108mph trap, you can do better than a 13.7 without mods. Just practice a little, and possibly consider some new tires?
When I did that GMHTP mag shootout, I was running mostly 13.5-7ish at around 106-107mph. I eventually wrung out a 13.2@108 with a decent launch considering the tires were 10 year old GS-C's.

I never really had a good clean run. I was bogging off the line a lot. I am a little hesitant to bring the rev's up 'cause then the thing spins like crazy. Tires are fairly new GS-D3's, I was running about 26 psi in them. I was hoping for another run and I was going to launch her at 3000-3500 RPM but that was my last run.
