Add 10-15 rwhp if you minus that girly exhaust:) and add a real man's exhaust.

Yeah, I can imagine they did! Love to have seen that. :-D Great numbers, Lee!! (Same reaction we get every time the FBI goes to the Corvette shootout drags (coming up next w/e, BTW).)

Hey what kind of motor is that?

Is that a real Corvette?

I'll bet its hard to work on!

My LT-4 puts out pretty close to that.

Feel free to add your own :blahblah:

I like the sound of Borlas too, but the "girlie" reference is to the "girlie" dyno results compared to other exhausts.

I thought Corsa's made more power?

The car has cams....split duration 225/236 415 425.....exhaust 222 415; heads are ported not to the extent of Petes.....the next build will be bigger with a 368 and cams....

The heads were mildedly ported, I opened them up more, but they were already siamesed about 3/4 inch into the head, thus the siamese intake to match

Car has yet to be tuned and is running a 2.5 Corsa with the resonator.....still has the stock TB.

So there is still som power to left to find

I will let the experts chime in, but based upon the wavey graph over 6K I wonder if I am either over or under fueled????

Hog, I know, I was just having a laugh.
Funny thing is, I sold my Flying Scot 19' sailboat, trailer over the weekend to a guy from Tenn. who is in route to come pick it up Wed. His only stipulation in discussion is that I take him for a ride in my 1991 ZR-1 since he's lusted for one forever. As part of the sale I'll be happy to do so. Any excuse to run it through the gears a little!

Lance....probably for me if I were going to adjust the power it would be a good first step to get tubed headers, open up the exhaust more than the borlas do and think seriously about porting and relieving...but, that costs money and I can't do it myself so I'll just be happy with the mid 400's in crank hp I have...can't run it hard enough locally anyway to use all of that much less 500 to 600 crank hp.

Great engine that churned out 441 to the rear wheels..

Not sure if it's breaking up just before or as he lifted off. Is this first run. There carbon blowing out just near the end of the run. Spend some money and go for a real dyno run. Quit guessing.

He did not lift on this one.....hit the rev limiter; this is the second one...the first he lifted at 6800 and hp was still climbing

Bingo,on the dyno results.
Corsa might make more over stock but does not come close to a good full 3" free flowing exhaust and mufflers.
You will leave 10 rwhp on the table to some that's no big deal but for some that are looking to squeze every last HP, it's big.

I agree with you pete. however, the corsa muffs do seem to be less restrictive than the B&B (new style) old style B&B no doubt flowed better but they would resonate so bad all my teeth hurt (and several fillings needed to be replaced) george b used to drive with ear plugs

not a fan. love to see a "back to back" dyno test, same dyno, car and day with both the new b&b and the corsas

I'm also interested in doing a "poor mans" mild to wild mod and put the c7 flappers on the existing B&B muffs. I priced out the new B&B system and it's WAY too pricey

they will also "update the muffs" but they want and ton of money.

like to find some c6 z06 take out parts and weld on some new tips to the exisitng B&B my car is "pretty tame", but for croozin, the Ms. would like it to be more quiet

I need to tame the beast just a bit to get my lady to ride in it. between the exhaust stink, runflats pounding you, and the loud exh, she says "lets take the BMW ok???" while the little 325 vert is a cool little car, it just doesn't quite measure up and I hate turning in my man card

Ron,

Pete has the Z06 exhaust control valves on his B+B tips. I have the DynoMax UltraFlow muffs w the complete Z06 tips attached. I can only say that the valves do the trick at cruise. With a good tune, it's a nice purr coming from behind the car w no drone.

A test of the 3", SW X-pipe, Dynamax 17228s w/ and w/o flappers...is in the works. BTW, I may have another option to the GM NPP bypass valves - not ready for human consumption yet, but very close!

Ron, your right new B&B's do not flow as well as they used to.

Most of the shiny stainless exhausts out there are more for bling and sound then power.

I recently gave up my Corsa (after a combined 15 years on two Zs plus trying several other systems). Switched back to a stock system with electric QTP cutouts. (See http://www.zr1specialist.com/HAT%20Web/products/exhaust%20cutouts.htm). Marc still had my original exhaust so he put it back on and add cutouts. Now I have his 510 package (minus Fidanza) with SW headers, no cats and cutouts, so when open it is a straight through system making almost 500 CHP; closed about 485. (Had to remove the spare and carrier). When closed the car is nice and quiet and I can hear some of those beautiful mechanical noises our engines make. Even though the Corsa sounded fine, in my old age I finally got tired of the constant noise and the wife did not like it too much either. She said she could hear me coming home 3 or 4 blocks away. Now she is happier to ride in the Z. -- Bob

Easy on the LT4 guys ;) Those are some great numbers that's pretty much where I hope to be with my z.=D>

Regarding the exhausts.. its my personal feeling all b&Bs are restrictive even though they are 3". Ive had the early setup and now have the new setup which I was shocked to see what I saw when looking in the tips (walls , walls and more walls). I plan to saw open the top and do some reconstruction non the mufflers.

so I'd like to replace the B&B muffs with some free flowing muffs with the flappers in the tips

I think B&B will sell me the new muffs with the flappers but they are probably a grand for the pair (don't think I'll go that route!)

so I'm looking for the following

a really good free flowing 3" muffler with a "corsa like" tip and flapper in one side

let me know what you guys can cook up and I'm all in!!

I'd like to get a few more ponies. the B&B sounds great at WOT and I think it does pretty well, but it's also pretty loud at cruise which I'd like to fix. might fashion up so "plugs" just to try them out like dwight did it's an ez fix for a trip to the beach

thanks.

Ron, keep your 3" B&B's add 3" X-pipe,cut mufflers replace with Dynomax
find C6 ZO6 mufflers use tips and vacuum flapper/tips.
Now you have Corsa looking tips with tolerable cruising sound.

You still running those Dom ?

Yep. Love them. I think Pete or Al could testify to how they sound. They've both driven my car. BobG. has, except for a different Xpipe, the same setup on his 427. When you get on it, they sound like an old Quadrajet opening the secondaries, BBBWWWWWAAAAHHHHH. At cruise, the exhaust note comes from behind the car like a big cat purring.
