That sucks I'm sure you had a spare. I know your already thinking about another option that can handle all the power your steed is putting down

Damn drivers side spindle twisted off right at the bearing hub.

Luckily Darrin and his neighbor John were there to help with swapping it out. Thanks a bunch guys. I came out at around 2000 and the spindle popped at about the 60 ft timing light. With the new motor and no secondaries the car comes out like a beast compared to the old motor with secondaries. Wished I could have got a few more runs in. There was a new ZL1 Camaro there with DRs on running just a little quicker than the one good pass I was able to get in so in spite of the bad spindle luck overall I'm very pleased with the with the performance of the car with the new motor. Now on to getting some bullet proof spindles.

Phil just read your post! Congrats, that is fantastic! With all the work that you have put in you have earned it. Sorry to hear about the spindle failure. Would you mind sharing your 60ft. time. I am curious. That is one good runnin car. Happy for you.

Get hold of Al and BobG. They're using 33 spline hubs I believe. VERY stout!
In fact, here's Al's original thread on this

Nice run Phil. Does the little bounce at 1 car length off the start give you extra grip?

No problem with grip at all. After seeing the video I was also a bit surprised with the "bounce" coming off the line.

I love it when the track announcer gets all surprised at the performance of an
older Vette that looks and sounds pretty stock. If I heard right, the Mustang trapped 110 which isn't otherwise shabby. SURPRISE!
