I was looking at the stable in new jersey and they had a low mileage 90zr1 , seafoam green with tan for 60,000.

May want to recheck on the color, only 1 green for 90, Polo Green Metallic although Turquoise Metallic may be what your looking at.

Anybody know anything about this '90? Seems to be priced cheap for a 40k mile car.

Add seams a bit odd and $12K for a 40k mile car no pic of the LT5 and why would someone list
"The engine, trans, along with the front and rear suspension make an excellent foundation for a street rod project for those hot rodders that are so inclined to build one"

A little google research shows that the same guy was parting out another ZR-1 recently. That one had caught fire- may have found another one to fix up using the first car...or maybe it's the same car??? Depends on the exact circumstances.

Why would you say that? Someone who always wanted a Zr1 ,but couldnt afford a new one back in 90 might think its an excelent value.

I recently saw some "art" in Italy which is valued in the tens of millions.
Would I pay that? nadda
Yes the ZR-1 is not art but.....
point is.
Things are worth what is perceived to be the value.
That becomes "what they are worth".
Has a car that is 20 something years old ever sold for
$60k when it was $100k new?
Sure.
Is it out of the realm of possibility for a polo-green 20 yr old
car to sell for about $60. No.
More power to him (hands waving with magic wand)
So , what are all you going to do with the first million we make from selling ?

These types of sales are an anomaly. Way outside the mean.

I think in 5 years things will be very different in a good way for these cars, they are a few years away from poping. I just sold my 1985 honda atc 350x which i paid 2100 for in 85 ,for 3500. Last year i sold my 86 hutch trick star pedal freestyle bike ,which was 400 back in 86 , for 1,400. So i think in 2018, they might peak. Look at all the 1970 to 1975 porsche 911 for sale latley, they are bringing 40 to 75k when 5 years ago you could have bought a nice one for 9k.

Lucky, my Z-Brother, Lou from CT, said the same thing with respect to "our own worst enemy" thought. Sometimes I wonder myself as to the validity of that statement? Perhaps it is just perception, and waiting to be "discovered" on the part of our cars? :dontknow:
Personally, I see it from the mechanical perspective; no easily obtainable motor parts. Does the average buyer look at an LT5 and sees no parts available? I doubt that a collector looks at it that way as they don't intend to pile up miles? Then I give up thinking about it as I can't come up with an answer that makes sense. :o
I'm not qualified to be a collector though. I bought my Z because I can only afford used corvettes. I'd love a new C7 btw or even a C6 ZO6 while I'm dreaming. My Z was the most corvette I could get in '04 for what I had to spend....at least in my mind. I never actually thought about what the car could be worth as a rare or unique example of corvette production. I knew it was unique though. Heck it still is! Thanks GM.
JMHO. If you gave me a choice of driving any distance, say above 4 or 5 hours, in my 72 LT-1 or my ZR-1.....well there is no choice in my mind, I'll take the Z! My LT-1 ( 72 w/ AC ) could be worth more than twice what my Z might be worth right now? The Z is a better car hands down. I don't mean better sports/GT car either, I mean a better car to use over lots of miles.

Hopefully a few years from now, we'll look back and say wow those cars were really affordable 10 years ago compared to now. I wish I would have kept mine, lol. I think it's just a matter of time, I think even C4 LT'1's will bring decent money eventually. Look how much the C3's have gone up in value in the last few years, even the later ones from 1974-82 with much lower horsepower are selling for decent money. The older they are the more money they bring, but that's all collectible cars I guess. It seems now people are asking crazy money I think for older cars, even un-restored ones.
