I have a coolant leak in the front of the engine. I believe that it is the water pump. I just want to make sure. I run the engine there is no leak. I shut the car off after the system is at temp the leak starts. I have tried with inspection mirror to see where it is coming from. I can not see it. When I relieve system pressure it goes away. So if anyone has any advice it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Before you do anything check to make sure all your WP bolts are tight. They tend to loosen. GC

I'm new to these cars as well - but old and wise to the ways of water pumps..LOL Usually what happens is the bearing in the snout goes bad which lets the shaft move around, which kills the seal and makes it leak. See if you can get your mirror to where you can see under the front of the WP snout where the pulley bolts on. If that's where the leak is - chances are you need a new pump...
Try the bolts first - but usually if a pump goes bad it will leak from the shaft.

The hose that runs down from the crossover tends to rub on the fan, my 92 rubbed a hole in it....same thing that slowed the world record run

Will do Thanks
Then look into the crossover tube and the Weap hole on the shaft seal of the water pump. Always advise the easy no cost areas first.

Don't forget about pin hole leaks in hoses.
Had that once. It was a cheap fix.

On all my ZR-1's I had water pumps go for some damn reason. Changed the last one in a parking lot.

Took the pulley off pump along with the air horn. there was evidence of leakage through the bottom weep hole. I order a pump from Jerry's Gaskets and will put it on today.. Thanks for all the help.
