Or does it really matter since the the newest car is 18 years old?

Seems that most people say when it its 100k, it's a high miler. As long as it's maintained properly, it should go another 100k with no bottom end issues.
Just my opinion. You'll get a lot of them...
:salute:
These sucker's go on forever if maintained well. I have seen ZR1's with 150K plus that ran and looked like a 15K miler. In fact the car ran like a scalded dog.
Just a thought.....one never hear's the question on how many mile's are on that 63-67 Corvette's. I really don't think it matter's , again providing the car has been taken care of.

My chassis has 120k +, but the drivetrain and suspension have been re-done, the motor has about 35k on it. So is it newer, or is it a 120k mile car?

It all depends on how it is maintained exactly as Frank (aka FU) suggested, how hard it is driven, and over what terrain it is driven........and it depends a bit on the lubricants you use and it also depends on WHO re-done and WHO maintains :p
It is assumed inside storage and with no mice :D
Knowing you Know Stuff.......... yours (XfireZ51) is probably a 35K car if the suspension was redone when you re-did the motor.

Dyno,
Mine was pretty much a rhetorical question. From a collector POV, car is 120k.
For me it runs like a much newer vehicle. The nice thing is that you can continue refreshing it so in the end as others have pointed out, mileage really matters little.

Rhetorical question or not......it appears you have now put on 32.5K miles on these cams since these photos? ;)
So I have pulled the cam cover and I have a few pics that I am posting for Pete because I thought it would be interesting to see the condition of the cam lobes after 2500miles.

For a GM car, I'd say 200k miles is about where the typical chassis is just plain worn. The wire harness has suffered wear and tear from many repairs and heat cycles, the suspension and chassis stiffness is affected.
A friend of mine insisted on driving his 89 IROC z-28 into the ground. 300k miles and the doors dropped an inch lower when you opened them from loose hinges. on the 2nd and a half engine job, rear axle done over...pretty much everything had been touched...at some point you are throwing good money after bad. Of course the ZR-1 has value and should have the justification for more service costs, but there has to be a point when a car will start looking real good as a spare parts car when you can just find another tighter 60k mile one for a decent price.

No I don't. The intake cams were installed when I first got the car and that's about 10k miles. The exhaust cams have recently been installed and now have 2k miles on them. The motor was originally swapped from #474 nearly 3 years ago. That motor was a service replacement from the original motor when 474 had 16k miles on odo and I bought the car w 35k miles. So new motor had 19k on it when I bought the car. When we swapped motor, 474 had ~52k miles on it so motor now had 36k on it. And I've put 10k on 458 w Pete's intake cams. I think he may have taken pics of cams when he installed exhaust cams this year.
When we looked at the motor during the install, the intake cams still looked like the pic you have above. No wear indication so I feel pretty comfortable w using the Castrol GTX Diesel 15W-40 that I have been using for the last several years.

Thanks Frank you hit it right on the head, no one cares about the miles on a 67, at what point does milage not matter any more.

Concure 100% ......Maintenance is the key
And......the ZR-1s/LT5s are actually very easy to maintain even if you have to remove the Plenum once in a while to check on things (seems everything is right under the Plenum) ;)
And....that is why I have eliminated TB Coolant for quick and easy Plenum removal (on both a 90' and 91').
