How rare is the LT-5?

So, as a production engine, how rare is the LT-5? Seems like under 7000 in a six year run for a production engine is extremely rare. Who else can stack up to (or down to) these numbers?

I bet the Chev 350 is the most Prolific engine ever built.

Only 10,000 Ferrari Testarossa's made and they have camshaft blanks available for their 4.9L DOHC flat 12 cylinder engines. Good for them.

But one thing in common, they've all only got one cam!!!!
(unless I missed the Ford SOHC 427, even that had only two cams
and wasn't a "normal" option)

84-06 Ferrari Testarossa'like cars with the 4.9L Flat-12. mid engine-rear drive
84-91 Testarossa got the Flat-12 (7,177 made-390hp )
92-94 TR512 got it as well (2,280 made-428hp)
94-96 F512-M got it as well (500 made-440hp)

Uncles 7,000 mile 1991 example is a bitch to detail, all those freakin' side louvers. Get the looks though, and it sounds SWEET through the aftermarket exhaust and no cats.

Who's to know how many actual engines are built, there is alsways a certain amount of service engines built. Just like there are 6939 OEM production ZR-1's that were built, but I owuld guess over 7,000 production/service engines were built.

There are less production LT4's at 6,359 1996 LT4 Vettes plus the 103 1997 LT4 Camaro SS's and 33 1997 Firehawk cars for a total of 6495 LT4 cars to be produced. And in the Vette's the LT4 engine only cost you $1,450.

I have one very nice 95' crate engine ;)

I actually have two other LT5s (90' and 91') and most of a 4th LT5 in parts :D

Cadillac Northstart 4.4 in the STS-V was rated at
469hp@ 6400rpm/438 lb/ft (lb/ft@ 3900rpm) @ 3900rpm

Cadillac Northstar 4.4L in the XLR-V was rated at
439hp@ 6400rpm/414lb/ft @ 3900 rpm

Both have the same engine, but the intakes and exhausts are different and these cars are rated using teh most modern SAE "Certified" rating method which requires the engiens to be rated using teh exact equipement it will wear as installed in the car.

These engines are RPO LC3 are are almost the same as the 275hp LD8 and 300hp L37 except they didnt overbore the cylinder bores as much dropping 2/10s of a liter. This enhances block rigidity in the supercharged application

The Shelby Series 1 used an Old Aurora 4.0 engine, but used the L37 4.6 300hp camshafts in the 4.0 L47 block for a supposed 320 hp @ 6500 rpm/ 290 lb·ft @ 5000rpm. This is disputed in a book, but I cant remember it's title.
