1990 ZR1 from FRANCE

Hello everybody,

After visiting this forum since few months as a guest, i finally decided to start a thread about my ZR1

Im a new owner since february of a Red 1990 ZR1
it had 15000 miles on it when i bought it
it was imported from USA to England when it had 8000 miles and after it stayed in a private collection in England until 2005 and someone bought it in France
im now the fourth owner of this car
after staying in the private collection, it needed a big servicing :injectors has been changed, gasket, ...

im already the owner of a 1980 Dark Blue C3 since 6 years and almost everything on this one has been changed (engine, transmission, interior, exhaust, ...)

thats a different tail light kit than I have seen, I thought euro tail lights were split with yellow on the top and red on the bottom.

Great pics...it is cool seeing these cars in other countries.

and also few technical questions :-s
for now i don't have major issue but i have few minors pbls:
1) ive remarked that the oil pression is always at 80psi, i guess its normal but can someone confirm
2) the climate control sometimes does not illuminate.
For example, when i turn it off, the "off green light" shows but at one point it does not appear anymore and it start again after a period; same thing for the "auto green light". Is it normal ?
3) ive run the car hard today just on a portion of road and ive reach only 94mph on third at 6500rpm. ive read that max speed on third at 7000 should be 116. do i have to worry about something ?
4) i have a strange metallic sound coming from the engine when i stop the car. it seems that it come around the tensioner but when i look when the engine is running, it seems to run correctly (i will try to make a video of this next weekend)

About the oil pressure. The plug is probably loose., as in, not completely on with a good connection. Check to see if the retainer clip is broken. Next time you start it pop the hood and push the plug down and then check your gauge. It should read what ever the sensor says it is when the contact is secure.

Sounds like the pressure sender is bad. I replaced mine and it fixed this.

This sounds like the "dirty connector" contacts problem. These can be cleaned with a pencil eraser

What size are the rear tires? Not sure what this should be if tires are the stock size.

Sounds like the chains stopping. Probably normal. Mine has always done this.

One thing I noticed is the intake duct. It appears to be partially collapsed. When warmed up is it soft and easy to squeeze. When I first bought my '92 that is the first thing I noticed in mine, under a heavy load it would try to squeeze closed. I fixed mine with a Coplan, but he no longer makes his, but I believe Haibeck makes some sort of fix for a collapsing duct.
Also if you are going to run at high RPM's alot, the next day prior to starting up check oil level.
