Brett, Great shots.
The 24 hour car info:
VIN # 1G1YZ21J7K5800045
"P" Number: P9Y079
EX #: EX5669
As you can see from Brett's interior shot it was originally 68U Brilliant Red Metallic or Dark Red Metallic (DRM was the marketing name) with 192 Black leather seates. Car was originally delivered to the Milford Proving Grounds and billed to the CPC Engineering Center. #45 was build around the 300th day of 1988 (around October 28th 1988) Eric

Daniel, I have made a deal with some to get very special pic of the cars from race day:) I will send you a few of them, I think you will like them...
The car was originally DRM as you can tell by the interior shots of the car, I also have a pic of the hood latch area and it is DRM also.

Yes DRM and BRM are the same color 68U. The marketing dept called BRM DRM for whatever reason

I saw this car in the NCM in 1999. Is it permanently there? And is the engine and running gear in still in place from the day of the record race. Another words was the car used/raced after setting the world record?

Yes, the car is permanently there,As the car sits is how it was run the day of the event, just now in somewhat run down state but everything is original.
Any idea of the calibration this car would have run? Would it have been a "Snakeskinner" cal? Secondaries?

The motor was completely stock, the only thing they did was retune the computer to calibrated it for running with no cats on the car

and put a higher rear end in to run it at speed at 5500 rpm...something like a 3:05 I think.

One of the cars did in fact have an antenna mounted on a bracket that came out of the license plate opening.I saw the car at a Corvette show in San Jose in the mid 90s.Seems like I was one of the few people there that knew what the car was,I actually reached out and touched the car.........my Brother thought I had lost my mind.:-D
