Draining the fuel tank

Just a question for you techies. Is it possible to use the fuel rail schrader valve location to empty the fuel tank instead of siphoning gas? Can you remove the schrader core and just turn on the ign to start the pumps to dump into a large can/container with a hose. I realize the higher pressure could be an issue but am thinking out loud.

Yes and I believe Marc Haibeck has covered the procedure here previously or possibly it's covered on his web-site more in depth. I seem to recall he covered the fitting sizes required to accomplish it. Of course you could research the required fittings yourself. I would think you could use the fuel pump lead under the hood and I believe he mentions that also.

I'm glad you mentioned the draining. I've nearly a full tank of fuel in a car that I've decided to retire for the summer and I'll probably attempt a similar procedure for removing it.

I try to always have a second person there manning the fire extinguisher.
Make sure you have one good for liquid propellents.
