I didn't get a fast time, I was mainly focusing on making sure the car was running good and consistant.

I am happy with the 115 trap speed.

I was thinking I may have had an injector miss at idle causing my flywheel rattle. I thought if I had an issue it would show up on the run, but I think the car was running great.

I don't understand all the in's and out's of reading a time slip, if you see something that seems weird please point it out to me ( car a dog down low or up high , ect) .

I was told the 115 trap should get me into the 11's though, and that's what I was expecting out of the car. Put down 402rwhp / 380 rwtq on a broken/rattling middle resonator. It now has an x-pipe.

Thanks :)

This was my first time having the car at W.O.T. ... boy was it fun !!! I saw the "shift up" light for the first time too LOL

I will still test the injectors ---

They're right, it is an eleven second car. But this is fine for the first time out.

You should be trapping higher with the extra HP. you've got. But the key is your 60ft. times. If you get some sticky tires on there, and get your 60ft. times down under two seconds, you will be ten car lengths quicker, and clipping a full second off your times. See below.

Fun, isn't it? :dancing

Looks like your launch is holding you way back, might also be shifting too early. My 92 350 with 391rwhp and street tires(Sumos=sucky) runs 117.5 12.42, a good launch is 2.0/2.1 in the 60 ft on street tires....with some work you should be in the 119 range

The Z struggles off the line with street tires, notice you are picking up 28mph at the back end.

What RPM did you launch at, and what gears?

Lee's car and mine were setup pretty similar. W 400rwhp, my trap was 118+ and w 2.2 60', my best ET was 12.7. That's with 3.45s and GY RFs. I also found that shifting at 7200 or so provided best results. Should be coming thru the traps right at the top of 3rd gear w stock rear.

Looks like you're "in the groove"! Not bad for a first run! Not bad at all! Yeah, I hear ya on getting under 2.0 60' on street tires. But, the big end looks real good!

Remember, trap speed is mostly just an indication of horsepower. E.T. is an indication of overall setup, gearing, and driving competence.

With practice you will get better and better. As stated the 60ft times are key to good elepased times. The harder you get out of the hole, the better your 1/4 mile ET will be.

Be careful drag racing can be addicting.

picking up nearly 30mph from the 1/8th is MOVING, the RT and the 60' time both need work but it's a pain in the *** to get these cars to move out...especially on street tires

Thanks guys, I feel a lot better after reading your posts.

I was just launching like I was taking off at a street light LOL ... blipping the throttle and letting the clutch out , then mashing it (probably slipping the clutch at 1500 rpm I would guess).

I was shifting at 6500 rpm ... and coming through the traps screaming , but I didn't hit the limiter and stayed in it.

I still have the stock gears.

Do you guys think I should try to launch with the throttle bodies for the secondaries open (like around 3500 and slip the clutch)? It seemed like a dog until they kicked in ... then it was a rocket :) .

There are two reasons I didn't really focus on my 60' lastnight ... it took 4 hours to get 2 runs in LOL ( I wasn't going to mess up my "testing" by losing traction), I really just wanted to make sure the power was getting put down so I was focusing on a trap speed. I was told if I had a miss it would definitely show up in my trap speed.

This is why I was told I MAY have a miss at idle ... and injector problems. My dual mass flywheel is noisy as HELL , but now I think its just from the cam timing from LPE.

Here is a vid I took lastnight after the runs where you can hear the weights on the Flywheel bottoming out. Do I have anything to worry about? Is my Dual Mass Flywheel worn out? In the future, should I go aluminum flywheel ... or are they dangerous? Someone told me they can explode. I know it may be louder with the Single Mass Aluminum flywheel ... but I can deal with that as long as I know the car is running good.

I need to datalog the car , and test the injectors still ... but I am not as worried about the car not running like it should anymore :) ---

When the coolant is warmed up (140ºF, there-abouts), the secondaries will open when the throttle hits between 95-100% open, regardless of rpm. However, there is like a .2 sec lag once you hammer it. And, to keep them open between shifts, try not to let up all the way - OR do as Jim Ingles does and never let up between (6300-6400 rpm) shifts!

better than me...my first and only run in the qtr was with the power key off....haha. Still have to go try it again.

That makes sense, thanks Paul. I was probably noticing the lag then.

LOL USAF , too funny. :) ---

Stock Gears w/street tires:

*Hold revs at 2.5-3K and launch, with more HP its difficult to launch above 2.5K on street tires. On my stock 90 launching at 1500 I ran 13.4 and moving to 3K got me a 12.88@112.68

Shift at 7-7.2K, don't let completely out of the throttle when shifting...with stock gears 3rd will take you through. you don't want to hit the rev limiter that cuts fuel and fs up your run

4.10 Gears w/street tires

*Launch at 1800 same as above

Now THATS what I am talking about ... thank you SO much for the tips. I will definitely try that from now on :) ---

I think you have the video, I was laughing at myself at about half track and just let off and cruised the rest of it.

I think you have the video, I was laughing at myself at about half track and just let off and cruised the rest of it.I do have it. I also remember the announcer saying 16.78@74 mph. "What was that?" I laughed my azz off dude! Sorry.

Addicting you say??? It's like (they say) crystal meth- one time and you're hooked for life!

On my first pass in my bone stock 90 I ran down a C5 that jumped me at the start by a car and a half...and I was hooked. Now, I'm at just over 500 chp and looking for more!
