The C7 is very tempting. But I would probably take the Alfa 4C first.
Other thoughts?

Well, I would never trade the ZR-1 for any other car. I would add another one if I had the money. But I already have a '91 L98 and some Blazers and Chevy pickups. My wife drives a new Abarth 500 at the moment. Nice little car, very fast for this size of vehicle.
There is also a '64 Impala SS 409/425hp. Our family owns this car since 1967! I like it!
What I personally hope to add one day is an Alfa Romeo Montreal V8. I really like this italien beauty. But at the moment I am happy with our cars.

I liked the 62 and then the 65 body style better but OMG,
A 409 SS!!!!!!

This is the one that got away kind of story like the 69 Z28 that was light blue, white stripes, and white houndstooth cloth interior. $1200 and this was in 1974.
He had a buyer and I was begging him!

But of course everything is for sale.....:):handshak:

Since its only hypothetical, The early Corvette racing specials; Corvette SS, Sting Ray racer, or an original Grand Sport. They have it all; style, performance and, history. I always thought that the LT5 fulfilled the vision that Duntov had for a Corvette engine. He wanted OHC and multiple valves way back in the 60's.

THREAD ASKS WRONG QUESTION! Should be 'What car would you trade for a ZR-1?' I sold my '08 Viper so i could buy a 2011 silverado 3/4 ton, a gatormade trailer and my '91 ZR-1 (to street/track). Totally satisfied...

Kind of surprised at all the mentions of those old "W" head motors from the early sixties. What is it with the ZR-1'ers? do we have the hots for "outmoded" performance motors.
My long time dream is to have my old gasser back. A 53' Bel Air 2 door hardtop, with a complete 62' 409/409 super stock drivetrain, from a wrecked Biscayne.

But trade the ZR-1?.....NAaaah, fugetaboutit. They're going to bury me in that sucker.

Im surprised at all the interest in the WV-8 as well.

"I can remember after we had run one of those 396 engines enough to know it put out about 100 more horsepower than any 348 or 409 we ever had on the dynamometer."
Maurice "Rosey" Rosenberger

The 1963 427 cubic in "W" engine RPO Z11 with 2 x 4bbl induction was rated at 430hp was the hottest "W" engine, and was installed in a car with a curb weight on3,345lbs when compared to a "standard" 2 door Impala with teh 340hp 409 "W" engine weighed a portly 3,877lbs. That aluminum front end must of done its job weightwise.
There were 57 Z11 cars built according to Paul Prior of Product Promotion said in 1977.
$1,237.40 got you the Z-11 option with the 430hp, 427 cube "W" engine ,Aluminum bumpers (front and rear), alum front end, alum. hood + underhood panels+alum. front inner and outer fenders, 4 speed syncromesh trans, 4.10:1 Positrac rear, metallic brake linings, HD shocks and springs, tach, . It also had a new cowl air induction air cleaner. The 427 had 12.5:1 compression with high port cylinder heads and matching intake manifold. Though rated at 430hp, dyno report were supposedly closer to 500hp.
The Z-11 was the first Chevrolet drag car to have its own RPO.

I am also interested in finding an LT4 SS Camaro to add to not replace the ZR-1.
LT4 SS Camaro would indeed be a nice car to own. LS1 power in the older GEN 2 conventional 4" bore, 3.48" 350 cube engine.
300rwhp, 12.8 1/4 mile times 106 cars built, 100 for American. 6 Canadian, 2 Prototypes.
For emissions the original LT1 calibration is retained, so getting a proper LT4 calibration flashed into the PCM really wakes these cars up. Proper tuning and LT4 knock module addition will add 30rwhp and 11 rwtq on a stone stock LT4 SS. Raisning the rev limiter up to the proper 6412rpm LT4 level from teh standard LT1 5886 rev limiter helps as well.

All of these LT4's were disassembled, balanced and blue printed and used speciifc Extrude honed exhaust manifolds in order to reach the 330 engine hp while using the stock LT1 calibration. Every 5th engine was dyno tested, and every car was chassis dyno tested.
There were also 33 LT4 Firehawks made.

I remember back in 2008 when LT4 SS #1 was being offerd for sale with 4,300 miles on it for $75,000.

Nice cars.

I really like my Z; I have a thing for unique/special cars, or ones with a story behind them. There are not many cars that I would trade the Z for. Nobody said anything BUT if I traded could I then sell the traded car for cash get my Z back and then get another C4? That is if I traded up… HA! That being said I would trade for only 2 cars:

1) Ferrari F40 a street version would be “ok” but would prefer a LM.
2) The 1995 DRM Le Mans ZR-1

Those are pretty much it; I have a few other C4’s on the “Maybe” list. Anyone that knows me knows I am a C4 guy I didn’t buy a Z because it was the “King of the Hill” I didn’t buy the Z as an investment. I got this particular Z because I liked everything that it was, not to mention at the time I was looking for either a SNAT, B2K, or ZR-1. I have had offers to sell and it’s just not going to happen! Sad thing is the 89 L98 car we have is the most un-special car, has the most miles, and is probably in the worst shape out of all of them. I absolutely LOVE that car, I have put WAY too much money, time, and resources into that car but I really don’t ever see myself letting it go. The Z would go before it would and I wouldn’t trade the 89 for anything… I must have a real problem LOL

thing about the LT4 is it just needs the hot cam and tune to be well over 400HP. Couple that with how rare the car is and I don't really care what the time slip says. I think 4th Gen F Bodys are pretty commonly in the 12's. Not to hard to believe for me, and I think it would easily get there, especially with the cam added.

I would trade my ZR-1 for a C6 ZR1. I realize the newer ZR1 doesn't have the historical value of the ZR-1, but some days when I contort myself in and out of my car, I think, maybe I should go newer. be better off trading your c6 Z06 and upgrading to a ZR-1

or better still, twin turbo that Z06!!! with the right stuff, a TT Z06 will show tailights to most

I have a "little" LS6 C5 TT Z06 and it's way fun with 800 at the tire.

the LS7 with a few upgrades will do 1k without too much of a sweat and has the nice c6 features which make it even nicer.

but I agree, the "new' ZR-1 is a super nice ride too. just still a bit too much fold for me.

they are in the 80k range, but my limit for hot rods is still 50k and that's too much!

No, FANTASTIC car...nonetheless, for the street, too much attention, on the track too risky/expensive (for my wallet, others i'm sure not so much). For bang-for-the-buck cannot beat my ZR-1. Stops just as well with my C5 brakes with Hawk 70s and corners just as well with racing mods. Not as fast on the long straights (eg. back straight VIR or Road Atlanta, yet - give me some more time and i will attempt to correct!!), but no worries in the turns...If i lose it, i won't go home crying as hard as I would with the Viper. I AM SPEAKING OF MY '91, not a 'late mode' ZR1 of course! I'd sure love THOSE brakes (sigh)

At 6'6" and 290 lbs. comfort is important to me. I would not trade my Z06 for a ZR1, because I like my Z06 that much. I would however trade my ZR-1 for a C6 ZR1 if I could find the right deal.

Don't get me wrong, I treasure my ZR-1, but sometimes it just seems cramped to me, and I really love to drive and when I drive I like to be comfortable.
